| Do Yorkies usually like to have a friend? I have a Yorkie mix. Wandered into my place in June..I just joined YT yesterday..Since I know NOTHING about Yorkie behavior, I have noticed that a lot of you have more than one. Is it just because they are so cute and the most adorable dog ever, or is it that Yorkies like the company of other Yorkies and do better with a friend instead of alone when some of us have to work? |

| My breeder said yorkies do better in pairs so that is one reason we got a second one. We also saw people that two of them and we thought it was so cute. My yorkies dont have any separation anxiety problems so they keep each other company

| Lily is a TOTALLY different dog now that she has a brother. She did not do well at all by herself, and would stare at us like she was so bored and lonely. Now, that is not the case at all. She doesn't mind when we leave anymore and she is very occupied with Elvis. But they both still have lots of time for us too. It really was the best thing we ever did.

| Yorkies don't like to be alone. They are velcro dogs , therefore, a friend helps keep them from feeling lonely and anxious. Some do stay alone, but IMO they do better with a friend.

| We felt bad leaving Hobbs alone when we went to work, so we got him a friend. Our breeder also told us that they do better with a friend. Now he doesn't bark and whine and cry when we leave him to go to work because he now has a friend to keep him company. |

| You're all making me want a second!!!!! My big concern is training. Howie isn't fully potty trained yet. Do you think that it will set him back with a new puppy? Also, I'm single and live alone. Do you think that 2 pups would be too much to handle?? Sorry to steal your thread, tobyfan! I'm hoping that some of my questions are relevant for you too.

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Cali loves having Maya around. Even Maya is getting use to having her around. I do think they like a canine companion.

| Snickers' separation anxiety disappeared after we got Baxter. Baxter is the little brother and Snickers feels very important now. It really improved his self-esteem. I think having a yorkie buddy is really good for them.

| What about Cats? My brother's yorkie loves to play with our cat when she comes to visit. I am not leaving the baby alone at home in a room without the cat until she gets older. Didn't know if all yorkies get along with cats or not. My brother's sure does and it is soooo funny to watch those two play. |

| I think Yorkies definitely like the company more than other breeds. Our Boxer Coco is fine she just use to sleep when we left Georgie on the other hand can't stand if we leave. He is getting better as he is getting older though.

I am so glad this was asked up here. I am going to be getting another. Well, when my breeder has the perfect fit for me and Balli. She said this is important to. I want one that looks real close to what Balli does and is about her same size or just a tad smaller. My breeder laughed and said you don't ask for much do you??? It is so nice to hear they like a buddy. Even though Balli and I are just fine the two of us, I think a playmate is exactly what we need. I love buying the clothes for her and now that I have been looking on line for boys things this is going to be so much fun having one of each!
