my neice used it when recovering from a shark attack last february. it seemed to help with her anxiety and helped with the healing. my mom uses oils on her yorkies when they get nervous or upset.

Do you mean your mom uses Rescue Remedy, or does she use essential oils, or something else? How does she apply the oils?

Rescue Remedy is available at most health food stores. Drs. Foster & Smith also sell it, but I don't know if it is a different formula for animals or not. The also sell several other calming herbal preparations disguised as treats.

That is fantastic. Thanks so much! It never occurred to me that there might be a medicine for the problem. I was thinking it was a behavior problem that would require a behavioral solution.

I think I'll try either the Vita-Calm or the Ultra-Calm. Both say they're for event-related stress including dog shows, which is probably the closest thing to my situation (positive stress in dog class).

The Rescue Remedy description says it does not make dogs *overly* sleepy, which I'm reading to mean *a little sleepy*.

I did look at a human version of Rescue Remedy and compared the herbs to the dog formula and although it costs 1/3 of the price - the ingredients were very different. I am thinking that you could probably get something local at a Petco or Petsmart.

I love rescue remedy for me! I think of it as zen in a bottle!! A couple of drops under the tongue and within a few minutes I'm much more mellow!

But I'm really excited to hear that it works for dogs! I might try a drop on Dixie tomorrow night for agility because she gets quite stressed at class - in fact so do I, so it'll probably be good for us both!

It certainly doesn't make me sleepy in fact it helps me focus better.

My Maggie gets carsick and would get sick everytime we ride in a car. A friend of ours gave us a bottle of Bach's Rescue Remedy. I drop one drop on her tougue and boy the difference!!! She now can go on trips with us without getting sick. I've check with a couple of my friends that show dogs and know breeders at work, and they all said that it is safe. I am so glad we found this. I give it an A++

You say your dog gets stressed in class. Can you tell me more (everything you know!) about that? I've been trying to find out more about positive stress but have not come across much practical info.

That is a rediculous price! I have bought Rescue Remedy fro years and it is half that price. The following is where I always order mine and I take the same exact thing that I give my babies!

If the cheaper human version works the same that's great even if it has different ingredients. The human version is usually available in any health food store so you don't have to even pay shipping. Heck, everyone is so positive about it I think I will go get the Bach's brand and give it a try on my wild child.

I didn't realize that there are 2 different types... What I see in the pet stores around here is the same that I buy at the health food store. And you're right... it shouldn't cost nearly that much...

For the ones that use Rescue Remedy for their dogs, do you put the drops in their water or directly into their mouth. Also, how many drops? Thanks

Maggie is 6 lbs, I just put one little drop on her togue. There is a spray kind too that you can spray on treats.
