Dinky was very dark with just a bit of gold around his snout and ears. I posted some of his baby pics along with litter mates. Having breed for a couple of years, they were the first dark litter at birth, even though the daddy is very, very light. I was totally surprised and thought they would lighten up as they got older but that didn't happen, they simply stayed the same colors as at birth. Daddy Gizmo has produced normal color pups but the majority of them tend to go light, like him. Roxie is also from Gizmo with Sissy. She has more traditional colors but was much lighter at birth than our darkies.

Thanks, I feel much better now. I am really not worried anymore. Like I said, he has bred for years and he is a family member. I am gonna trust my instinct on this. Thanks for finding that link and posting it for me. You are such a sweetie to help :)

They are really cute I like the black ones too. I know its not the standard but I think its really cute. I was hoping my little Summer would be black but I think she is going to be blue which I really like too. I know that is the correct color but I think they are all soo adorable.

thank you for showing these. I almost knew there was a person on here that had what I would call black or chocolate and black mixed. I have always thought this one was One of the most beautiful yorkies I've ever seen. full bred or not, I wouldnt even care if it was mine. I dont think i've ever seen one any prettier than this one. You have something to me that would be hard to come across if anyone was trying to find one. I think some of all colors are pretty, but this one to me is just beautiful. I couldnt remember who had the black yorkie I thought was sooooooooooo pretty. thanks for sharing the pictures. I am referring to the last picture on the first page of pictures you sent.

Funny, i just saw a minute ago "white" purebred yorkie.

They say:

And than you can see her pic...(well, i belive she is the most beautiful yokrie for her owners, but imho..give some respect to the breed standard).

But this is not a standard.

i saw a 7 kg purebred yorkie ...(13 ebils), but again, it's not a standard.

So standard of course is possible...and those things are happened even with the best breeders, but those kind of dogs SHOULD cost much less money.

They are not better than other, and we will love them the same, but this is not a standard.

After all that has been said in these posts go with your heart! A Yorkie is more than color. It amazes me how everyone is always talking "standard" in size and color. What about personality? To me that is the most important in any breed and I think the Yorkie has the greatest personality of them all.
Do we purchase a Yorkie because of his color?(those of us who do not show) I would be interested to know why everyone did purchase a Yorkie? Was it color, size or personality? Or all three? I purchased one because I love the size and personality. There are so many colors I didn't care if he had more tan than gold or more black than blue. As long as he was healthy. Enjoy your new baby and have many years of happiness with him/her.:) Carol

personality is the most important thing than anything, there is no doubt about it.
I am the best example of this thing...i bought a show class yorkie, for a very expensive price, and he is very beautiful baby, but his personality is s**tty as can be.
he is not loving, not loyal...not cuddly.
belive me, i will prefer to have a dog that doesn't look good, but with a great personality, than what i have now...
This is not the point.

I just really hate when breeders sell those pupps for a price of standard.
It's just not fair.
And i see it standard, in every country...
Great personality can be also on a mix that doesnt cost any money.
There is eve of small breeds mix that just dream to find a loving home.
Honest breeders, always give those "not standard" pupps for a low price, and never say "they are amazing quality".

Is your human up to standard? Ours is much OVER the standard weight. Her hair is OK on a good day but it gets very knotty and needs to be brushed daily, its so annoying...and the mats!!!! grrrrrr...and her SKIN!! It gets so oily, we have to buy her special cleanser to keep it from breaking out!!

Sometimes when she is sad or even really happy she cries, is this normal or should I take her to the doctors?? And somedays she eats to little and the next day she eats waaaaaay too much, we are thinking of putting her on new people food. She was housebroken when we got her..thank god!!

Some nights she cant sleep and we dont know why so we get into bed and kiss her all over her face, she smiles and pets us as she drifts off to sleep. Well YTers she sure dosent meet the standard human qualities we have read about..and we wont be entering her in an beauty contests but she is our human and we love just the same!! Cant wait to see pics of YOUR humans!! We just love pics!!

All those "beauty" standards are so cruel.

Me and my hubby just back from Russia (Sankt petersburg and Moscow).
And there you can clearly see all of those things...
pretty girls that looks like model and feed the "beauty standard" have a lot of money, and a rich fans.
Girls that doesn't looks so good, most of them poor :(

I had a hard time deciding who to respond to because all your posts are great. Thank you all for your kind words about our darkies. It certainly wasn't intentional breeding, they just happened. Carol, you are so right, a yorkie is more than color. Healthy puppies is the most important factor and due to the freedom our pups have from the time they are able to crawl out of the cage on their own, they are very socialized with great personalities, little lovers and devilish at the same time. Color is the last thing on my mind. In my opinion, the breed standard is used for showing. Don't jump down my throat, I've been through this discussion before and will stand my ground on this issue. On more than one time I've seen slams directed at those yorkies that are not the "standard" color and implications that there was something wrong with them or that they weren't pure breeds, or that the breeder should be strung up for not following the breed standards. If I was breeding for show, I would be more religious going after the correct color but healthy is highest on my priority list and those looking to add a furbaby to love should look at health first. When we got our darkie litter last year, I fully expected them to lighten up but that just hasn't been the case and since we kept Dinky, I'm beginning a search for a very dark female just for him. And down the line I hope to add the other taboo colors of red, blond and chocolate to our breeding program. Parti and/or briewers had to start somewhere and I strongly believe that within the next 20 years you will see the yorkie standards changed to include other colors. I could go on and on but enough from my soapbox, pick and choose for health and personality, in that order, everything else is secondary. Heck, if I met the beauty standards, I'd be Miss Universe! Of course, that is just a pipe dream and I'd have to be 40 years younger.........

I think the darker yorkies are gorgeous. I've also seen some beautiful red yorkies. Health is definitely the most important thing to look for, I agree.

what difference does it make if your yorkie is normal colored, black, white or what, if its just gonna be a pet. As long as its pretty to you and its healthy and your happy, thats all the counts anyway. JMO

Very well said. :good job: I just wanted a yorkie. Yes I might breed down the road....I might not. I am so excited to get one. It is coming from my fiance which makes it even more special because it is really hard on him having a house pet so this is a breakthrough :)

I will love my puppy no matter what color it turns out. My fiance says that it would be cool to have an all black yorkie. I am gonna go see it again this weekend so I will get some pics to show everyone.
