| When should testies drop Up until what age should I wait to see if my males testies drop. I have read on hear it can take up to 10 months old before they drop. So, by 1 year old if they have not dropped they are not going to drop?? Is that right????? Thanks,

| My vet said that if they hadn't dropped by the time they were 6mths they likely weren't going to. Only one of Oscar's testicles droppped and he had to have a cryptorchid neuter (two incisions- one in the abdomen, one where the testicles should be). They found his retained testicle under his bladder! It's important to remove testicles that haven't dropped as they can lead to cancer.

| Got Sprout when he was 5 months and he had to small ones. He will be one on the 20th and he is well endowed. Should be able to feel them at 5 months, about the size of a pea.

Do you know that some vets actually say its ok to keep the retained one inside!! My old neighbor had a boy who was cryptorchid and the vet neutered him and said it was completley fine that the other one was left inside. I really tried to help her and educate her but shes been seeing this vet for years and trusted him totally. I tried to tell her it may turn to cancer but she trusted her vet. I honestly didnt care for him, he was a very rude and uncaring man. He told another friend of mine that her dog is going to die soon he was a 6 year old rottie mix. He told her this for no reason at all I was at the appointment with her when he said this. It took everything I had not to tell this man off. And for Timmy.. Where in Vineland are you? I help show yorkies for a good breeder friend of mine (acutally I look up to her like a mother) who lives in Vineland. Her name is Joan Chrissy | |

Chrissy, go post this man's name under vet recommendations so those of us in South Jersey know NOT to go there!

| We took our little guy to the vet when we first got him at 11 weeks old and believe it or not, the vet said they had dropped. And just yesterday, he started humping his toy! |

| Depends from dog to dog. Also, theory is (as I understand it) it often takes longer for smaller males. In any case, one breeder I worked with held back a male for breeding, at one year 2 months, they had not dropped. She made an appointment to have a neuter done and cancelled shortly before hand because suddenly, they began to appear...at 1 yr 3 months! |
