| this is one of the most effective ways we got rid of urine smells: At our local Petsmart or Petco we bought this thing called a "Spot Spotter" from a brand called Simple Solutions, which is a UV black light that is battery powered. In a dark room with this light 3 inches away from the carpet you will see every single exact spot of dried urine and you squirt the Simple Solutions odor and stain remover on it. Seeing exactly where the urine spots are on the carpet helped us to target everything and really get rid of the smell. Also, we got a heated steam cleaner to clean the carpet 1x a month and afterwards when the carpet is dry, we sprinkle some baking soda across the entire carpet, let it sit for a while then vacuum it all up. | After reading about the "super secret recipe" in this thread, I took a big mixing bowl and just threw everything in, guessing amounts...water, dish. deter., baking powd., hydrogen peroxide, and what the heck, just for the SHAZZAM of it, I threw in a little vinegar, too! ![]() It seemed to work well!

| In my experience, none of the grocery store stuff worked. So I tried Planet Urine, which was very costly and did not do the complete job. I found Zero Odor, purchased online for $20.00, takes out the odor. It even worked on an old cat urine stain and odor I had been attempting to remove for 6 months! For the stains I use Joe Campanelli Professional Stain Remover, purchased at QVC, also $20.00. Just spray the stain, and it disappears!! This what works best at our house.

| I, too, ripped up my carpet and put new flooring down but Ceeby is lifting his leg on every corner of my couch and chair. I wonder if any of this stuff would work on the furniture. The corners and ruffles are gooey and wet all the time. I have used the pet stain remover from the pet store and use Odoban all the time. Nothing seems to work because he waters it right back down. yes, I have ordered belly bands and they are being shipped today. |
