I've always wondered about my yo-yo too. She didn't come with papers at all and I think I bought her from a broker without knowing. She said she was selling yorkie puppies for a friend in a different state...of course I fell for it and so yo-yo is not standard or even close. She's my first yorkie maybe silky, but I love her regardless. My friend is always saying she doesnt really look like a yorkie cuz her legs are longer, body is longer and snout is longer oh and has a huge head compared to her body...oh well. My mom and brother always calls her a mutt...I don't think it matters too much. |
It helps to always get a Yorkie from a reputable breeder. AND see the parents of the puppies. that way your making a more clear and accurate chice of the breed and there are no questions about heritage. :aimeeyork |

I absolutely agree. I made the big mistake and couldn't resist the first puppy I seen, and I rushed into getting her without knowing alot about the breed. :( Live and learn! I didn't see any parents of Molly. I just took his word.:eek:I learned quickly though. When I got Little Abby I seen Both mama and daddy.:)Mama was 6lbs and daddy was 3.5lbs. Vets says she gonna be a big one too though!! she is six mos. and she weighs 6lbs. She only 71/2 inch from shoulder down were Molly is 12inches from shoulder down. Molly is all legs!! It doesn't matter to me either. Abby is just easier to carry around. I love them no matter what size they are!! I just pray they both stay healthy!! |
I am confused with mine "yorkie" too. I purchased him directly from a breeder in the midwest and she shipped him to Ny to me. When he was younger he looked like a yorkie and the breeder told me he would weight between 5-6 lbs. Luc just turned 6 months and everyone tells me he is big for a yorkie. I think his weight is between 6-7 lbs. He has floppy ears (which I don't mind) but I wonder if he is going to grow more. He is very stubburn, doing only what he wants, I can't seem to make pee on his wee wee pad (he pees next to it but not On it) and he chews on everthing including my walls. he also barks a lot when he wants my attention. I don't allow him to sleep on my bed because he get too excited to be with me that he doesn't lay down or let me sleep. I travelled to Europe in May for the whole month and Luc stayed with a friend of mine, and she told me that from her experience with dogs, Luc is not a yorkie. The breeder gave me the papers APRI registration for him as a yorkie. I wonder if he is a full breed yorkie or a silky... |

Silky vs Yorkie I too have a 5 lb dog that I am told is a silky. He does have the long silky hair and his ears stand straight up. He is 2-1/2 years old and the most loveable dog you could ever want to have...........;) |
