| Getting her fixed. I have read a lot about when to get your little girl spayed. We got Misha spayed at 4 months, the vet suggested it. From what I have read now, that is to young. Some say 6, some say 7, some say 8months. I know it is better before they go into heat. From what I have read, some babies go into heat at 6 months. So my question is should I get it done now? Piper is 5 months, & she is just starting to lose her baby teeth. I would like to see if all her baby teeth come out 1st, since Mishas didn't. So Misha had her canines out at 9 months. But I also don't want her to have a first heat. When do most puppies start losing their teeth, & how long does it take? I didn't keep track with Misha. I might be posting in the wrong site, but there are more responses on general. |

| I just had Sophia spayed on Friday...She is 6 months old...My vet said I had to do it as soon as possible cause she could go into heat any day... I know some vet/breeders spay as early as 2 months old... As far as the teeth...Sammi lost her last baby tooth at 1 and a half years of age...Sophia just lost her last one 2 days b4 her spay operation...So I think that varies... Good Luck!! XoXoXo Fran

| I got Gucci at 3 mts. old in August, she was spayed that Dec. which made her 7 mts. It was before her heat. As far as teeth go I don't remember. |

| Early age spaying, before the dog reaches her first heat cycle, can almost entirely eliminate the risk of certain cancers and infections. Waiting until after her first heat increases the risk significantly, as much as 50% by the age of two...

| My vet absolutely said they wont spay before 6 months old. He said they rather make sure their female parts have fully developed before they do it. I would of gotten kizzy spayed before that but he said it didnt have anything to do with size, just as long as they are fully developed and to me that makes sense. Kizzy was 6 months and a few days.

| I just had Adrianna spayed at almost 7 months last Friday. Right now, she's doing great....like she never had surgery at all!! As for her baby teeth, she still has them, but her adult teeth are halfway growing in.

| My Vet did Jewels at 6 months and he took out the baby teeth that he felt would not come out on their own

| Thankyou all. I guess I'd better make an apt. I just hated to have her go under twice if she didn't have to, like Misha did. Although I think it would be worse to wait. I guess it's like any other girl it varries on the time the cycle starts. Six months sounds like a good age. |
