I May Be Getting A Yorkie I am sick to my stomach right now. :( I have some very sad news. As you guys know from my other thread, I got 4 boxes in today from Pet Edge and as I was opening them all, Linda (my disgusting co-worker) came by and said she has a Yorkie! (Keep in mind that I don't really know Linda too well -- we sort of say hi and bye but that's about it). Anyway, she started to tell me about how she wants to give her Yorkie "Daisy" away because she can't have pups anymore. :thumbdown Here are the few background details I know about Daisy: - She is about 2 1/2 years old. - She has had 2 litters of puppies (BOTH were c-sections) - She is obviously not spayed - She is NOT on heartworm medicine or feal/tick prevention - She is very tiny - 3 lbs :( I was trying SOOO hard not to scream at her because that would totally blow my chances of getting this baby. Linda said I should take her "since I like dogs so much" -- I wanted to deck her for that comment. But I remained totally cool and friendly. I was too afraid that if I yelled at her like she deserved, she wouldn't let me save this baby. She was making jokes that her sons (she has 2 young boys, I don't know their ages but they are around 5-8) are always beating her up. I asked her if she meant that they REALLY BEAT HER UP and she said no, they just play rough with her. She said "You know how boys are"  Linda is going to go home and talk to her hubby about giving Daisy to me. So hopefully I will be able to get this baby and save her. As far as I know, Linda is going to give her to me for free but I will pay to get her if I have to. I don't know what will happen ... Linda may tell me NO tomorrow. :( But I'm praying I can get her and help her. Here's my problem. I can NOT keep her. I already have 2 dogs and I'm bringing Cali home in November. 4 dogs would be just way too much for me. So I'd like to have her adopted. But first she WILL be vet checked, SPAYED and have any baby teeth removed (if there are any left). This little girls breeding days will be over. She will also get all her shots (rabies too). I don't want to make any money off this girl -- I just want her to get a great home. So I will not charge for the shots, spay and care that I will give her. I will only ask for the money that I had to pay for her (and that's if she charges me at all). I kinda got the feeling that she was just looking to get rid of her. I feel so bad that I cannot keep her but I promise, if I get her, I will make sure she gets the best home. I know this is all premature since I don't even know if Linda will give me Daisy yet but I just wanted to post this so that, if anyone lives near by (I am willing to drive 5 hours in one direction), they will keep Daisy in mind. I really prefer not to have her flown. I'd like to meet her new family. Also, please keep in mind that I WILL be asking for references. I don't want to sound harsh but this is an INTERNET forum ... I won't take any chances with this baby. I can't live with the guilt of giving her to someone on YT without properly checking them first and then she ends up on the streets. I'm sure that wouldn't happen because we all love our babies but I just could never live with myself if that ever DID happen. I hope you all understand. Also, I do not know her temperament -- I don't know how she is with other dogs, cats, kids, people, etc. But if and when I do get her, I will post all of that information. I also don't have any pictures. I don't know her health or if she has any hereditary illnesses. But as soon as I get it (if it works out), I will post answers to all these questions. I will keep you guys updated on this situation!! Let's hope I can get this poor baby!! PS - Nobella, I've been trying to call you all day!! CALL ME!! :p |
Way to go you have a big heart yes get that baby as soon as you can if you can. i think this is wonderful what you are doing. Please keep us posted |
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for rescuing this little girl. Your are doing a very great, loving and kind thing:thumbup: |
Jen you are so cute. You are such a good person which is why I love you so :D :p |
All I can say is OMG! And bless you. |
I wouldn't mind adopting her, but i'm too far. :( |
I hope she comes through for you. Sounds like you will be giving this baby a better home somewhere else. Poor little one. Keep up the pretense until she is safe in your arms. |
Geeeeeeeeeeez...I cant stand ignorant people!! Poor poor Daisy being kicked out just because she cant have more puppies...im sick to my stomach hearing that. I PRAY you can get her to a new home with one of our loving YT members!!! Daisy needs to be a part of OUR family right here on YT!! I will be thinking of her until I hear more...GOOD LUCK AND BIG HUGS!! Dawn |
it's a shame the yorkie can't beat her like her kids do. |

There are some breeder in TN that when there yorkies have to have to many c-sections they sell them because they CAN'T make money off of them. There's one that i bought little bear from breeds 3lbs yorkies.I'm a breeder BUT not one of those. Some breeder only want the MONEY MONEY. If one of my kids was being mean to my 5lb little girl they would get there butt tanned. |
OMG i really hope Linda will give you Daisy, that poor baby needs saving :( . It must be real hard for you to act like everything is fine, when you must just want to scream at her:mad: I wished I lived in New York as i would be willing to adopt her. Good Luck i really hope it all works out  |
wow.. crazy how some people are meant to be in those situations. Just think.. if JCarlson wasn't in that job to be able to help her.. someone else might not... I hope it all works out  |
Thanks for all of the kind words. I just can't stand to hear of a little baby like that suffering. :( I'm just praying that she doesn't ask an outrageous amount of money for her. All I can really afford to pay is $500 because I will also have to pay for vet checking, spaying, removal of baby teeth (or she may even need a full dental if she's been neglected), shots, etc. I'll be so sad if she wants more then $500 for her because then I'd have to turn her down. :( :( I'm trying not to worry because I have to wait until next week (Monday) to hear her answer. What if she changes her mind over the weekend?? |
Oh Jennifer I hope you get her! Please let me know how she is with other dogs and kids. If my husband would go for I would love to give her a loving home but it would have to be the right fit you know? Poor baby! That women needs to be slapped silly! Please keep me updated. |
If she's only 1 years old and around 3 lbs.. then I'm guessing that she probably paid alot for her? I don't see how anyone would just give their tiny yorkie away. I wonder how much she paid for her.. she might just ask for that same amount??? |

I hope everything turns out good and you can save that poor baby. You are doing such a great thing. :D |
Thanks again everyone. I just know this is going to cause friction at work but I don't care. Once I get that baby away from her and she's safe, I'm going to BLAST her!! But please everyone keep your fingers and paws crossed and hope for the best!! I hope I can get her. :( |
Jen, First of all, God bless you for your willingness to take this precious baby if your co-worker will let her go (which I feel all of us here on YT would do the same if we were in your shoes!). I know exactly how you feel!!! The person we rescued Gage from last year was kinda "wishy-washy" on letting him go. I had to act like it was no big deal if he let me take him while the whole time my mind was screaming, "let that baby go - you aren't taking care of him". I felt if I acted "over anxious" I would blow any chance there was of getting Gage out of that house! Perseverence paid off and I got a call 3 months later - told me if I wanted him, come get him! When I showed up to get him, there was this precious, SCARED furbaby, weighing no more than 3 1/2 pounds on a freaking CHAIN in the front yard!!!!!!!!! They unhooked him and gave him to me - I couldn't get out of there fast enough cause I was so pissed, I had visions of me going to jail for manslaughter!! Saw the idiot a few weeks later at the store and he had the nerve to ask me how HIS dog was doing. I turned and said, "Your dog? No, he is MY dog! You couldn't handle his care, have no business owning any kind of pet at all. Please don't ever refer to him again as YOUR dog!" He's not spoken about Gage to me since then on those rare instances we see each other. Sorry to get so long winded, stories like these really touch my heart. I would love to help you with that precious baby if you get her but I live too far away. Know that you will be in my thoughts and prayers all week-end! I'll be looking for an update on Monday. Suzi |
Best of luck keep us posted. |
I hope you get her! I would love to take her but my hubby won't let me drive to NY!:p Keep us updated!:) OH....and shame on that woman!:thumbdown |
oh Jen I hope so much you can get her away from that terrible situation!! This makes me very sad! Please keep us posted. |

JEN!! I am so glad you took action.. YOu are right! This little girl needs a good home. When and if you do get her, I want to visit. I am still very uncomfortable about getting another dog because I can't bear the heartache but call me and I'll check her out. We will find her a good home together. |
Good for you for trying to do everything possible to get this little girl away from her crappy owner. i can't believe some people sometimes. If you need any help with this girl let me know. i would love to take her but i don't think i'll be allowed another dog at this moment. damn shame |
That is so sad for the poor little girl. If I lived near you I would take her in a heart beat. Im so glad you are rescuing her  |
