I would wait...you don't want to seem too eager or she may decide that she can 1. make some money off this after all, or 2. charge an outrageous price.

I had to act like it was no big deal if he let me take him while the whole time my mind was screaming, "let that baby go - you aren't taking care of him". I felt if I acted "over anxious" I would blow any chance there was of getting Gage out of that house! Perseverence paid off and I got a call 3 months later - told me if I wanted him, come get him! When I showed up to get him, there was this precious, SCARED furbaby, weighing no more than 3 1/2 pounds on a freaking CHAIN in the front yard!!!!!!!!! They unhooked him and gave him to me - I couldn't get out of there fast enough cause I was so pissed, I had visions of me going to jail for manslaughter!! Saw the idiot a few weeks later at the store and he had the nerve to ask me how HIS dog was doing. I turned and said, "Your dog? No, he is MY dog! You couldn't handle his care, have no business owning any kind of pet at all. Please don't ever refer to him again as YOUR dog!" He's not spoken about Gage to me since then on those rare instances we see each other.

Sorry to get so long winded, stories like these really touch my heart. I would love to help you with that precious baby if you get her but I live too far away. Know that you will be in my thoughts and prayers all week-end! I'll be looking for an update on Monday.

Suzi...you rock!

What the heck is wrong with people? treating a poor dog like this? I'm so sick and tried of that old saying boys will be boys that bull crap. i have 3 boys and none of them would ever treat a animal like that not even my 3 year old. its all the parent fault not teaching their kid right from Wong. i feel so bad for this little girl i hope you can get her. this little girl need some love. some people jsut make me sick.

JCarlson2004 08-25-2006 06:18 PM

I'm so sad for this baby. Right now I am looking at Codie and Tia sitting on their brand new bed, looking all cozy and happy. And I am thinking of this poor baby in a home where she's hit by 2 bratty kids, neglected and unloved. :( I'm so sad right now. Hang on little baby, I'm trying to get you.

lily's mom 08-25-2006 07:03 PM

luvamber 08-28-2006 07:11 AM

:p After you get that little angel give her hell. No one deserves one of these babies unless they treat them little princesses and princes. I have only had my furbaby for 3 weeks and i can tell you if someone did something to her I would have to open a can of "whoop ass" to protect her. She is the love of my life(next to the dh of course). I will be praying for you.

vainchick5 08-28-2006 08:23 AM

Any news Jen??

JCarlson2004 08-28-2006 08:57 AM

Update

She's adorable!! Linda brought in a picture of her -- she's soooo cute and TINY!! How could any dog that small ever be bred??? Her face and little paws are a rich tan and her body is black but OMG she has the saddest little eyes. :(

So here's the story ... Linda said the dog cost her $2,800 and they don't want to give her away for free. They are looking to sell her for $1,500 ... and I was only planning on paying $500. So it looks like I won't be able to get Daisy. :(

The only slightly good news is that another co-worker, Nicole (who is a total sweetheart), was interested in getting a Yorkie for a long time but hasn't yet because she just got engaged. So I told her about Daisy but she said her fiance was only willing to spend about $1,000 on the dog. So I offered to pay the $500 if she was willing to pay the rest. She said that she's going to speak to her fiance and see what he says and then get back to me and Linda. So let's hope for the best.

Nicole is nervous because it sounds like Daisy has been seriously neglected (health wise and socalization wise) and she doesn't know her temperament. So what I told her I'd do is, when I get back from Idado (I will be gone from September 2nd and return on the 12th -- my sister-in-law is getting married), I will help her with the socalization part. But if she does take the dog in the meantime, Daisy will beed to be checked by a vet ASAP, spayed eventually and check her teeth. She will probably need all her shots too.

So I will continue to keep you guys updated. Hopoefully Nicole and her fiance will save this little girl.

That is so sad that after all the owners HAVEN'T done for her, they still want to make money off of her. Its a hard situation but you've stuck with it. $500 is more than most people would pay for a dog they can't keep. That's great about Nicole so keep us posted on that. Thanks for being such a good person Jen :D Daisy sure is lucky to have you on her side.
