| ![]() So glad to hear things are going so well. You may have hit on the problem with Chloe..swallowing too fast..that is good. Do you know when they start sleeping on their backs, it is a sign of good health. Sickly pups tend to curl in a ball to comfort themselves. I want to say something about our females who give birth...THEY ARE PURE GOLD. You are finding that out first hand. All the work they do and never complain! LOL There is nothing too good for my girls, what they want, they get!!! It breaks my heart to see ads for breeding females sold like a product to be used up and tossed out. The recent ad for the Maltese and Yorkie is a good example. Last edited by YorkieRose; 04-28-2005 at 09:53 AM. |

| ![]() Yorkie Rose, you are so right. My retired breeding female is a true gem. She has always been so faithful and sweet and kind. She rules the roost at my house! She gets whatever she wants, but the problem is she never demands anything except our love and attention. I always sneak her extra treats and when I hand out snacks to my dogs. She birthed 6 litters of puppies for me with never a problem and was always the very best mommy. We love her dearly! ![]() |

| ![]() Hi, Hope all is well with your girl! I recently had a runt who lived to be 10 weeks and she didnt make it. I so hope your outcome is successful! If I was to give any advice it would be to get her eating on her own as soon as possible. Keep her out of drafts even if its a warm day. If she routinely has fluid coming out her nose even its its a little bit I would question the vet about antibiotics again for a precaution. These are just things I think about after my experience with my Candy girl. |

| ![]() I had never heard that the pups sleeping on thier backs was a sign of good health either! You said it when you said our mommies are worth a pot of gold! My little BItsy never complains about anything and she's tried so hard to be a good mommy, as much as she is able to! I wouldn't trade her for the world!!! Yorkierose, you are a fountain of endless knowledge and wisdom! Thank you so much for taking the time to post! lovdorkyyorkies.....do you know what your 10 week old pup died from? I can imagine how hard that was for you! My busy day is slowing down. I missed church today. We're going out for a quick bite to eat and I HAVE to get back home and give Bentley and Bitsy a bath!! Poor little things are overdue and Bentley has dingleberries and Daddy just had to wash his little booty and he's all embarassed ![]() I'm gonna take some more pics either this evening or tomorrow and post. I can't resist ![]()

| ![]() Hey! I dont know if im too late and you have things under control but I do know of a breeder around the charlotte area. Its Essex Yorkies in Newton NC. I dont know if you saw their info on YTCA but i have been speaking with her over the past few months because I am planning on getting a puppy from her next litter. She has been breeding and showing for years and is very friendly! If you would like I can give you her name and email if you are still looking for help! |

| ![]() Your little Chloe is so very darling and I hope and pray she grows and thrives! When you said about thinking about ways to keep them all...I thought about that back when you first started handfeeding them. You get attached anyway, but handfeeding gives you an even more special bond. Too bad there's not a way to just keep them all!!! Best wishes...keep up the good work! So proud of you, Michelle! |

| ![]() Thanks Connie! I was hoping I would end up getting to keep two but my mean old husband (JK) let me know very bluntly today that we are keeping one ![]() ![]() ![]() I keep looking in on my babies to see if and when they are sleeping on their backs. That was the best news I had heard all day! Thanks again Yorkierose ![]() Lmf...Right now things are going ok but I'll keep you in mind about that phone number. I've found out that you never know what a day will bring. I'm winding down for bed. Thank you all for loving my babies ![]() Oh yea, Bitsy's teats have gone down a LOT over the last two days I can hardly believe how fast! I was worried about them after the pups quit nursing cause they looked horrible and she looked miserable! She's almost down to her pre pregnancy size! Now she can fit back into all her cute little clothes ![]() ![]()

| ![]() Michelle, I am so glad to hear that your baby is doing better..I have had to hand-feed a litter only once cause mom had pyometria and had surgery before they were old enough to wean. I remember that burping them often was so important.. When we have babies that are really sickly, we do the best we can. Never do we hurt them even when they don't make it. A person should not ever feel guilty if a baby dies..the odds are 50-50 that they will make it. BUT, it is 100% sure they will die if we don't do something, It is like CPR-when I taught that I reminded people that ANY number of breaths and compressions might help but for sure if you don't try the person/animal will die. And, about placing the puppies. If you interview and choose wisely, you will feel like yo put your baby in a home possibly better than their birth home. You see, they thrive on individual attention and you can assure they will get that in their forever home. This is another thing you can do for them to have wonderful lives. That is how I look at it when mine are ready to go to their new home. Of course, I cry as they drive away, but I wouldn't have it any other way..God bless you and your babies. They have a wonderful hooman mom and you will provide for them.. |
