I Will Try To Post Pictures Asap...we Got Her Yesturday, I Am Taking Her To The Vet Then I Will Post Her Pictures! I Do Have A Question, The Grayish/blueish Puppies, Do They Have Shorter Hair Than The Black And Tan Ones? She Has Tan On Her! |
devoted to Lucy! When I got Lucy I was told to look in her eyes in a light. The people I got her from told me that if they reflect red, they are "woolies" and if they reflect green they are "silkies". The first thing I did when I got her home was take nearly blind her taking a picture. Her eyes glowed this eerie green in the picture. Hope this helps and congratulations on your baby. |
I've never heard of one that color. Just a word of caution. Make sure you are giving her nutrical or Karo syrup to keep her sugar levels up. It seems to me that the most fatal mistake they new yorkies owners make is to not monitor their puppys eating, and so many of them die within a couple of days. Then they want to blame the breeder for selling them a sick puppy. Hypoglycemia can cause brain damage if not caught soon enough. So please make sure your baby is getting plenty of sugar for the next 5 weeks. 7 weeks is very young With mine I just put Karo some in their water, and made sure they ate, even if I had to scramble an egg for them. You have no idea how many new members have come on here to tell about their new baby and within 2 days the puppy was dead. Just because they did not know about the hypoglycemia. Welcom to YT |

Not everyone subscribes to this theory. However it holds true for mine. |
Welcome to yorkietalk and congratulations on your new puppy! Listen to JeanieK she seems to know what she's talking about! Good to have you here. Can't wait to see pics! |
That baby is awfully young.:p Just keep a close eye on her and make sure you are giving her NutriCal/NutriStat/Kyro Syrup to keep her bloodsugar levels up! Can't wait to see pics! :D |
:welcome4: Can't wait to see pics of your little one. She must be very small at such a young age. Glad to hear you are taking her to the vet. Good Luck! |
Wow, seven weeks??? That's soooooo young for a little yorkie to be away from it's mom. Do you have Nutrical on hand? I would give it to her if she's not eating much and especially before bed. I can't wait to see pictures, as I've never seen a yorkie puppy with the colors you mention. Congratulations and good luck! |
There is such a thing as a blue born puppy that is a genetic defect and the puppy can have health problems. If you do a search on here about blue born puppies there have been other threads on this with more info on them. |
i've too never heard of that color, can't wait to see a pic of your new baby! :) |
grayish/blueish..... First Of All I Wanta Say "thank You To All Of You!!!!! I Do Put The Karo In Her Water! That Is Easy For Me To Remember! The Man My Husband Brought Her From He Has 4 Full Blooded Yorkies With Papers! He Said None Of Them Have No Problems At All! He Don't Even Give Them Karo...he Said He Never Had A Problem! His Dogs And Puppies Looks Great, They Are In A Wonderful Enviroment! The Moma And The Daddy Of My Baby Is There, I Seem To Think They Are Blue Born, I Have Research This Site And The Entire Web. She Do Not Have Gray Feet, If That Is Important Or Not, Her Nose Is Black. I Have A Picture On My Phone Is Someone Wants Me To Send It To Their Cell Phone, So You Can Give Me Your Opinion On A Blue Born. He Said Nothing Never Happened To None Of His Puppies, He Wanted To Bet Me That Nothing Will Happen To My Baby! I Am Scared! My Daughter Is Special Needs And She Will Be So Sad If Anything Was To Happen To This Puppy! Her Coat Is Not Wavy As The Black And Tan Pups! |

I didn't know about the 12 weeks I was pretty ignorant about the types of yorkies. Lucy's eyes glowed green and I thought something was wrong with her eyes:p . I was about to take her to the vet when a friend who also has a yorkie called and told me about the eyes reflecting different colors. |

I found this information on blue born yorkies. It is quite disturbing. I hope for your sake that yours is not like this. Maybe you can get the breeder to exchange for another one if you are concerned. http://members.aol.com/CYorkie/Genet...Chocolate.html |
There is a picture of a blue born, on this link. Scroll down a ways. Is this what your puppy looks like? http://members.aol.com/CYorkie/Genet...Chocolate.html |
blue born puppy yes! but a little bit darker |
I would DEFINATELY take it to your vet to check out before you take it back to the breeder. It may not even be a blue born! Don't make any rash decisions. |
From all I've read, if it is a blue born... Take it back to the breeder. |
Blue Borns Thank You JeannieK for posting Cher's web page about the Blue Borns and other birth conditions that can affect Yorkies. Sometimes the Blue Borns can live a pretty normal life, but many/most do die in excruciating pain. As the puppy matures the skin gets thicker and hair loss developes, that is why some refer to it as elephant skin. I'm NOT so sure a Vet would know about this condition in Yorkies, believe me, time and experience is their most valuable learning tool and mosts Vet's will never see a Blue Born. In the 20 years I've been Breeding and Showing I've never had one, and I don't believe Cher ever has in the 25 years or so that she has been. Real breeders do not take this lightly, it is a serious hereditary condition that can be controlled by select breedings. The only place I have heard of this condition in the last few years is from people breeding only for pets, and having little knowledge about the different lineages and what they hold genetically. I woould take it back to the breeder |
I never knew this... Learn something new everyday. That is terrible about the skin. Poor babies! |
