You know what ticks me off? When random people think it's OK to come up to you and comment about the appearance of your furbaby. I had a man in Petsmart say to me in passing, "Wow. That's a BIG yorkie!" Why? Because he's healthy and within the breed standard??? Because he isn't 2.5 lbs and in my purse?? (Not there's anything wrong with a purse pooch!) He's a d-o-g DOG!! He's not a toy and he likes to run around outside and play with sticks and has a healthy puppy appetite. I happen to think he's gorgeous and handsome! I wouldn't walk up to someone and say, "Hey, you're kid has big bones!" That's all... just needed to vent. |
I heard that too for the first time about a week or so ago. "Wow, that's big for a Yorkie." Well, technically she is, but we don't need to hear your face announce it! PS. No, I didn't say that, but that's what I was thinking. :p |
don't even bother... They like to 'give friendly advice'... Before I got J.J I was at Petco looking at doggy stuff. A woman started chatting about her puppy. After she heard I was getting a Yorkie, she was like 'Good Luck'. (??). In the vets office, there's always someone commenting. Once that he's a 'teacup', the other time that he's big for a Yorkie puppy. I stopped paying attention to that. |
I think those of us with larger Yorkies have heard several remarks over time. Your right when you say people think they are these tiny tiny creatures who get carried around in a purse size bag. Some are and some aren't! Buddy is one who is not. I would need an overnight bag to stick him in. At 13.5lbs people have said "Is that a real Yorkie" What the heck does that mean?:D He's breathing, it that real enough? |

You should have asked him what he would know about it.:D He's cute! Nothing else matters, does it?:p |
Big or little we all get comments. The one I'm always getting is,,, that's not a dog that's a rat. Or they're always calling Gus a girl. When I tell them that he is a boy, 8 out of 10 times they ask well then why do you have a ponytail on him? He could be wearing boy shirt that say,,, Bit**** love me, or camouflage clothing with his name on it and they still think he's a girl. |
Just laugh and say, "No, it's a small St Bernard!":p |

And then, of course...some people are just idiots or snobs! :p |

I know what ya mean. One of my supervisor saw a picture of my boys and started making fun of them. Really pissed me off, I feel like telling him off. He asked me what kind of a dog is that? told him its a yorkie and he said no it isnt! I have a yorkie's calender on my wall , he pointed out, now thats the real yorkie suppose to looks like. Just because my boy is big and his ears isnt up. He think I dont know my breed. Gosh i'm so tired of telling these idiots thats yorkie doesnt have to be tiny. |
devoted to Lucy! If people can't coo at your furbaby or say something nice, they should just keep their mouths shut. Lucy's not a teacup, she's a standard and that's exactly what I wanted. I wanted a baby I wasn't afraid to play with for my first yorkie. Teacups are beautiful, but I don't think they're for everyone. Kim and Lucy:aimeeyork |

you know i get that same question about my teeth.:D :D your teeth are so pretty are they yours and real?. :scratchhe WELL of course they are mine they are in my mouth. same goes with my Yorkies yes they are really a yorkie today but, they can be snake tomorrow. Some people just to get it most of us have a yorkie cause we love that breed and we just love them nothing more to it |
I have to agree, it kinda does me the same way. Although, I'm glad :aimeeyork ZheZhe is not a teacup, more like a teapot at 10 lbs., b/c she wouldn't stand a chance between me and my husband. She is always following us around, and being at our heels. And has gotten stepped on and bumped a couple of times, especially in the kitchen. Finally, she's learned and has found her a spot and watches. pwolfkill |
