| ![]() There have been deaths due to the rabies vaccine also, but mine do get the rabies vaccination because the risk of getting rabies is greater than the risk of getting the vaccine. Never give a rabies if the animal is sick, even something minor, make sure they are 100% healthy. Never give the rabies while under anesthesia or with any other vaccine, wait at least two weeks, preferably three, to let their immune system recover. I will say that even though I am in violation of my city's ordinance, I only get the regular (one year) rabies vaccine once every 3 years (research has shown that immunity lasts this long) and stop giving all vaccinations to dogs over 7 years of age. I need to do some research on the 3 year vaccine, but the very little I know about it, it has more side effects and probably shouldn't be given to Yorkies. |

| ![]() My boy is doing so much better, still gets a little tired easily but eats a lot, his potty reactions are back to normal and is starting to play again. While I was doing my 'vigil' at my poor sick baby's side I read a lot about Lepto shot, seems like any forum for small breeds has plenty of threads against the vaccine. Those are not dogs that would wander in the woods by themselves and don't we always play close attention to them while outside? Just put "Lepto reaction" in any web search engine.
