| Question about after spaying. Serious question for me. As you know, Kizzy was spayed a week ago Friday. She was almost completely completely potty trained before. She would run to the door ring the bell, even come raise up on my leg and look at me sometimes to let me know. Every since she came home from being spayed, She rarely lets me know she has to go. She will squat anywhere again. I have been absolutely picking her up and taking her out to potty again like she was still little off and on. I usually take maggie out as we go and she potties fine. But Kizzy has got where now, she will go out to the deck when we do but half the time she refuses to come out in the yard. Thats why I literally picked her up and took her out some. I can block my deck so she cant get back up on it and she will just sit on the platform where the steps start down for an hour or longer and still not pee, and if she does she does it right there. Hubby and I both are getting very aggravated about this. She has even pooped in my floors again off and on. Kizzy hasnt done this in quiet a while. I know its not from having maggie here now as she was here before Kizzy had the surgery. At first and I still wonder if maybe her muscles in her stomach are maybe weak after the surgery and if she has to go she cant hold it that good but yet she holds it all night in her bed. I am getting to my wits end with her. She already pooped in the floor on my carpet this morning soon as she came in from being outside and I always clean up any spot as soon as either of them do it. Today I even put her back in her cage for over an hour then took them out and she is still out where I wont let her even on out deck but she hasnt tee tee'd yet. I know she use to didnt even pee nearly as much as she has since her surgery. Am I gonna have to just start crating her again during the day like I do maggie. Thats what hubby told me to do. He said just put them in there and do it for about a week and maybe she'll get back to her old self. Anyone have any idea? Also, she dont go in the same places so I know its not from where I dont clean it as good as I can. And I dont think its because we have maggie now as she was going fine before. I would appreciate some serious ideas on what to do and has anyone else's done this after being spayed? She is worse now than when she first came home from spaying. and seems to be getting worse.

| It sounds like she is regressing. Its strange that it is happening after her spay but I would crate train her again

| I have had a friend in the past who was in the same situation...but I think in time she got through it. I would just start all over, even though it sucks, but I'm not sure what other advice to say.

| well for one it could be the spaying has weaken her bladder as sometimes it does, or she was out of her routeen so needs to be kind of retrained, how long was she at the vets? cos i expect she did a wee in the cage a few times and now she just does it when she wants, like some dogs do after they have been put in kennels, she could have a bladder infection after the spaying my sasha did and was then fine after the vet gave her some pills .or maybe its a bit of all those things. maybe you need to talk to your vet to check there is no infection.

| Like Chachi said... It could be regression and it just happens to be happening after she was spayed. I'm going through a similar thing with Pixie right now... She's been almost perfect for MONTHS now and the past couple weeks she will only poo on the rugs! It's frustrating! Some dogs can become incontinent after being spayed, but I don't think it's common in Yorkies. A bladder/uniary tract infection could be causing it too. If it doesn't get better within a few days I'd probably schedule a follow up with the vet. |
