I looked up the word Mutt in the dictionary. Meaning mongrel. I'm sure it was years ago someone with the 1st BMW in the neighborhood that had a pure bred looked upon his neighbors dog that was less than standard and called his dog a mutt. Just because his pet was a mix didn't make his furbaby any less. Same thing goes for the term Bitch. Meaning female dog. I'm sure that was a man that gave that name also. I find that offensive also. Most meanings were given by men I'm sure, and probably, not a lover of all animals. Just because the word is there, doesnt make it less offensive. I prefer mix, as I prefer female over bitch. Yes, your whole opinion was lost with using the word Mutt. TMO.

well if i could edit the post, i'd change mutt to mix to appease those who find it offensive.

Piper is so stinkin' cute! You should be very proud of her. Let's keep this thread about the positive of mixes - there's lots of other threads that talk about cross-breeding and rescuing - and get into arguments.

I have a friend that raises yorkies and morkies. She doesn't dock the tails on morkies. She likes how the tail lays on the back.

I raise yorktese and we don't dock the tails either. I love the little floppy tails! If I had had the choice my Autumn would have her tail too. One day I will have a yorkie with her tail!

I searched and seached AND searched all of our local shelters for a small breed dog and they told me they very very rarely have them come in. I really wasnt looking for a yorkie when I found Darla who is a Borkie (yorkie/bichon) but when I did find her..I was in total love!! It certainly didnt matter that she wasnt purebred it was that she was healthy and she had good natured parents whom I could see. Darla has been a joy since day one...the best dog I have ever had..so much so that we are in the process of trying to find another yorkie or yorkie mix. Everyone's pups are beautiful!!

LOL Villette - that's an amazing jump!!! My guy can jump 4 ft straight up. He got over our baby gate the first day we had him! You're girls are gorgeous!

dont ever feel guilty. if you rescued or you paid for a yorkie mix, they are babies and we love them all the same. doesnt matter who the momma and the daddy was when it comes down to it, they stole our hearts and thats all the matters

right???

You are toooo Funny LOL. When I first got married we had a 1/2 yorkie 1/2 maltese. His name was Shadow. He was all black and looked like a maltese. He was adorable!!!!! his tail was docked. I called it his nubby like I do Maddies. I was going to a craft show out of town and took him to my sister for her to watch him. She lives on a highway and I told her to please take him outside either on a leash or make sure her gates where close.... Well she didnt do either and he ran across the highway and was killed. I came home from my craft show and she was at the vet with him. When My nephew answered the door. I said where's Shadow and he told me he got him by a car and that his mommy had taken him to the vet but he died....I was blown away with shock... I balded my eyes out for weeks. We had no kids then, so he was my baby.....I miss that little guy.!!!! He was awesome.

All these little babies on here are sooo cute!!!!

pipersmommy.. I'm thinking about getting a "morkie" as my second furkid (especially now that i see how adorable Piper is!). I've located a couple in my area that are only about $100, along with a "chorkie" and "yorkiepoo". How big is your Piper?

Those of you that DO have mixes, i'm kinda looking for some information on them. I love my Maggie who is purebred(and worth every penny!) , but to me it's not necessary. I know I can get just as much love from a mix!

Lucinda is a Morkie....or whome call them Yorktese. I have got to get pictures of her on this page....dependent on my husband to do that so it will have to wait unti we get home from going to Milwaukee this weekend to see Cirque Du Soleil. Anyway, the breeder gave us the choice about her tail and we left it long. Our other dogs are cockapoos and one came with his tail docked (rescued) and our Rosie cockapoo we bought from a breeder who did not dock tails. We find that we love the long tails on Lucinda and Rosie. I promise to put up pictures next week. Oh, and Lucinda looks like a Yorkie.
