How old is she? I was thinking if she's fairly young that maybe it's like babies who learn to walk really young. They don't seem to develop the brains to go with the ability until later. My brother learned to walk at 9 mos. and he would walk off anything, tables, stairs, benches etc. He didn't seem to recognize the difference in height. So maybe she'll get smarter and learn that some things are beyond her ability, hopefully anyway. Other than that I have no suggestions, just hope her luck seems to hold. She does sound adorable though.

My dog is the same way! He is a nut. I call him the squeaky mountain goat. He climbs EVERYTHING just to climb it or jump off. I keep trying to stop him from jumping as people tell me I shoudlnt' let him pound his body like that because of long term damage...but try to stop a bouncing ball? He is fast and happy. He also likes to bring stuff up on the couch and drop it down. I guess he likes to see things fall.

How about weighing her down with an anchor? Or hobble her front legs as you do it with horses? Or cut all the furniture down to 3 inches?

LOL! just kidding!

Unfortunately I don't have a realistic idea how to keep her safe. Let's all pray that nothing will happen until you find something.

Wow, get that dog into an agility class!

My Yorkie is a climber but not a jumper. I discovered her climbing abilities when I left a piece of pizza on a desk and turned my back for three minutes. When I turned around, there she was, standing on the empty plate and licking it. How does a 5.6 lb dog eat an 8-oz slice of pizza?

Now I have to be careful to turn the office chair around so that she can't get onto the desk. When I forget, I find her sleeping on the keyboard of my laptop.

Daisy likes to climb all over us in bed! We call her Queen of the hill. and if it Thunders shes up there shaken and panting. Once I was woke up to her on my head.

Mojo doesn't do this, but it sounds cute and funny.

Mojo just has the "little dog syndrom" where he thinks he is as big and tough and a Mastif!

Adie's mother is a climber. Her mom found her on top of the refridgerator one day!!!!!! I fear Adie has inheritaed the mountain goat gene. She actually used her little toenails to climb the back of the couchfrom the floor! She is only 12 weeks old but her balance is amazing.

Our 13 year old stays upstairs now by her choice but we are so thankful she has never broken a limb. ANd this is after countless times falling/rolling down the stairs we have in our split level house. Now we have a new addition and wondering when she will start attempting the stairs.

Can anyone offer some advice on stair training? Our dog was already adults when we moved into our home.

Our 13 year old stays upstairs now by her choice but we are so thankful she has never broken a limb. ANd this is after countless times falling/rolling down the stairs we have in our split level house. Now we have a new addition and wondering when she will start attempting the stairs.

Can anyone offer some advice on stair training? Our dog was already adults when we moved into our home.

I know its not funny but I can't help laughing at your post. My Trixie sounds just like your baby. She will climb and jump off of anything. During the summer when she was only 6 months old and weighed about your baby's weight she jumped off my mother's deck. It's a good 12 feet

I thought she killed herself but nope, not my Trixie. She went running through the yard and I couldn't catch her little butt. She was perfectly fine. Every once in awhile I'll find her on top of my kitchen table. Chairs are always pushed in so I know she isn't jumping to them and then to the table. I haven't got a clue (just like you) on how she gets on the things that she does. Then I have my other yorkie who's terrified of heights

If anyone has any help I would also really appreciate it

I know what you mean about the Mountain Goat. Not only do they climb and jump, often my three climb UP to "steal" treasures" so they are jumping down with something in their mouth.

Someone needs to design a harness with a built in parachute that automatically deploys.....

If she's that little, she probably just likes the height and getting a different view! Bless! When Bunty wants to go anywhere, she stands with her arms up against the couch and just looks around hopefully, waiting for someone to help her up!

We call our yorkies "mountain goats" too, and I was going to say I knew right where you were coming from, but then I read the rest of your post! Oh my----it does sound like you have an extreme case on your hands!

But I do know what you mean about not being able to stop her from doing it, short of keeping her TIED DOWN. My dogs climb all over EVERYTHING, and then jump down. It does make me nervous, b/c of all the stories I've heard about broken bones.

Mazie too is less than 3 lbs., and the vet has sd that her patellas are "borderline", so I worry particularly about her. But she was at the vet the other day, and I asked him to check, and he sd. that everything is looking really good!

THESE BABIES! Just like real kids, they are determined to worry us mommies!
