Hairless Nose? my yorkie Silk's hair on her nose is very thin and receeding. Does anyone else have this problem...I think it might be leather ear...however her ears have hair on them...could it be some kind of mite? I have been putting lotrmin on her ears and nose...but have not really seen any improvement. Some say this happends in the winter when it is colder? Chris

http://www.shooterdog.com/alexfaq3.htm If you go to this website...her nose looks like this but not her ears. does this mean she has leather ear? Her breeder said something about mites that causes hair loss on the nose. Chris

Is her hair thin or missing from anywhere else. I started noticing the hair going thin on my maltese's nose and then around the eyes and then the top of her head. It turned out to be allergies and she was scratching the hair off in those areas. I didn't even notice her scratching until the hair was already thin. I have no idea what the leather ear looks like in person so I am of no help diagnosing that but just wanted to throw another possible cause out to you.

Mr. Big's ears are half bald on the back side. Up and down not sideways. There is no gunk or build up of any kind. His nose is not losing any hair. BUT Ridge is losing hair on his nose while his ears are perfectly fine. Big's ears nor Ridge's nose is slimy. Big's ears feel oily but they aren't. Anyone have any thots on this? Sylvia
