Tiger after Surgery Well, I got to see Tiger and he seemed in a daze . . . I tried to give him food and his favorite watermelon but he did not feel like it :( .The vet assured me that it is normal though for him to reject food right after surgery . . . he did say that Tiger was awake 20 minutes after surgery was over so that I guess is a good thing . . some dogs take longer. As for leaving him there Vainchick, they said that they stay pretty late in there and come really early the following morning and they would rather he stay there so it'll be easy for them to monitor him to ensure everything went well. It sure is different without him :( . . . Annika keeps going around the expen feeling bored. She gives me this look like "I am so bored . .where is Tiger". She did entertain herself but I sure miss them rough playing and I know she did too. Good thing I am working on Corinne's order so that is keeping me off thinking about my baby . . . . okay, my VET says that he needs rest for about 10 days  Isnt that too long . . .Annika will definitely feel so lost without him I am sure. I will have him confined in my sewing room while Annika will be in the laundry room by herself and I am really fine with this arrangement but 10 days is way too much don't you think . . .can someone tell me if this is normal . . .10 days of quiet time  |

Jazzie is a HUGE Drama Queen, each year when she gets her teeth cleaned under anethisa (ok, make fun of my spelling! can you spell it? Huh? Do it!), she can't get to her water bowl so we bring it to her, she can't get on or off the couch so we lift her, she wimpers... then the door bell rings and "Ding" she's jumping off the sofa barking her head off. Soon as she realizes what she did, she comes walking back to us like reeeeeeeeeealy slow and back to being "oh so ill"... She cracks us up when she does this! Jewel on the other hand was running and playing the very next day like nothing happend to her at all! We were so worried that she would hurt her stitches and tried to keep her confined and calm but Noooooo! It was a pretty useless effort on our part. Ok, so my point is.... 10 days seems long but it's all up to Tiger! Just don't tell him "Sit" for a while! |

Wow Corinne, Jazzie sure looks like she has your sense of humor . . oh, and I sure can spell anaesthesia :D :D :D :D I think! |
Oh Des I will keep Tiger in my prayers!! I know how worried you must be, but I am confident all will go well!! |
So happy that Tiger made it through with flying colors. I would pretty much let Tiger give you the clues. As with any situation, just keep an eye on him. Yeah Tiger....:) |

10 days seems like an eternity. I know he is minus some of his parts, but it is my understanding that spaying is a much more intricate procedure requiring a longer recuperation and my vet said to keep Sissy from running, jumping, or stairs for about a week. Since the whole world is bigger than her, stairs and not jumping up just didn't happen. She was very much her active self within two days without any problem. Tiger will let you know how he is feeling and what he can handle. I'm sure you're watching the clock till you can get him home again. Connie - Jazzie sounds like such a drama queen. How cute is that!!!! |
I got to bring my yorkie, Kramer home the same day. He was pretty woozy from the anaesthesia (okay, so I cheated and copied Tiger's moms spelling - I couldn't spell it either) and didn't eat anything until later that night. The next day, I could hardly even tell he'd had surgery. I think a couple of days rest should be plenty but again Tiger will let you know. |
Well, Tiger is finally home yay! He is not quite his usual self yet but I think he will be back to normal in a day or so, so am glad it is the weekend. Annika of course was trying to give him kisses with the crate door between them and poor Tiger was acting uninterested :( I also found out that he is slighty underweight :( so I have been advised to feed him more . . .he is quite the picky eater so I guess I will have to dump more wet food (Merrick) into his bowl as he just loves those. In fact, as soon as we got home, I gave him about a cup full of Merrick and he devoured it :p If only he's got Annika Bananika's appetite I would not have a problem getting a pound on him. He weight 5 lbs and 9 oz right now. As for playing, I will see how it goes tonight . . . I told my husband on the vet's advise so he thinks I should separate them for 10 days  Sometimes I wish I did not tell him such information  so he will stay out of how I handle my babies :D |
Hi Des, Glad to hear Tiger is home and on the way to feeling his old self!! It is worrying to have them away from you, even when it is for their own good!! I am sure Tiger will be feeling pretty good really soon, and even husband will see you won't be able to keep him down for 10 whole days!! |
I'm so happy that Tiger is home Des! I'm sure he'll be back to normal sooner than later. I'm sure Annika is hoping so too! It's great that you'll be able to stay home with him this weekend. :) |
I'm so glad that Tiger is home and doing well. Your hubby will stop pushing when he sees Tiger wanting to move about, and hears him screaming when he can't! |
:hands: sending prayers for a safe surgery and a quick recovery for little Tiger:ittykiss: |
Well, I think that after a day of res,t Tiger and his mommy :D decided that no more separation between the 2 yorkies. I get this look from Tiger looking like I am playing favorites :( so I think I will go with my gut feeling and signs from Tiger being almost back to normal that it is now okay to put them together as look as I keep a watching eye so there is no rough playing. Of course, to avoid this from happening, I took off for my favorite pet store and got them tons of the beef muscle/tendon. . . so, the rest of the afternoon, both was so engrossed in their own muscle that there was no running, jumping or rough playing . . . and since I got the really big one, it took them about at least a couple of hours to finish only half of it . . . somehow the chewing must have worn them out as they are now sleeping like a log :p Now, if only I can give Tiger a good bath  . . . the doctor says about a week. I would love to know what everyone did? |
I\'m glad to see Tiger is feeling better and that all went well. I know you must be relieved. Give both kisses from Maddie:p |
That\'s so great that he\'s home and starting to feel better! I\'m so glad. It\'s so hard when they have to have stuff done, but they are so strong. Coco amazed me at her speedy recovery in comparison to her size at that time but she did great. Sounds like Tiger did too :D |
