Is It Me Or??? Are ppl just stupid? I find it very aggravating when I see an ad that says..desperatley needs to find a home. I cant take care of it anymore and I call and they want 500.00 and wont even talk about going down alittle to find a really good home. I would provide a great home for a nother fur baby and I find it stupid that ppl look at money so much instead of the welfare of an animal. Is it just me that feels this way?? mad: :( |
I dont think it is wrong for people to ask a little bit to cover the shots the dog has had. When they overprice them I think they just put themselves at a disadvantage because most people will just get a puppy instead. |

I think some feel that if you can't come up with the $500.00 (which is probably a good price) then you might not be able to afford premium food and vet bills. I know when I was a landlord, my worst renters were those that I came down on the price for. After many years, I learned it was better to leave it empty a month, rather than go down on the rent. |
I agree with you people need to think of the welfare of the animal first. IMO if you got the dog and can't take care of it then money shouldn't be an issue you need to be responsible and find a good home regardless. They may have to take a loss but it is what it is. |

I would say they're more interested in the money. Another type of ad I hate to see is when they're trying to give away or sell an elderly dog...they're moving and suddenly can't take him with them. It just makes me so angry that some people just want to dump a dog just because he got old...never considering what a shock it would be to the poor thing. |
This may sound crazy to some, but it's the God's honest truth...when I got Baby I paid $2300 for her. I lived in an apartment that didn't allow pets. I'd never had a dog, and honestly didn't know much about Yorkies. I told myself that if I couldn't "handle" having a dog, I was going to give her away to my friend Maria. I wasn't going to ask her for any money...even though she probably would have given me some anyway, b/c that's how she is. But, that's me. Man am I glad I learned a buttload about Yorkies and kept her. :woof: |
Thats silly that they wont take the $400. That is a fair price |
I thought so too..:( |
I can't imagine having to "sell" or rehome my baby but IF I had no options I would try and find someone I knew or a forum like this and interview all interested parties and then decide. I would leave the price as negotiable and whne I found the right owner I would say No Charge just give her the best home. |

Here's the part that makes me sick: She has received several phone calls from various men's voices saying that they had found her dog and that they were bringing it to her for the reward. Of course, none of the dogs were her dog, hers was a female and one guy even brought a male. As it turns out, some folks were stealing Yorkies from other peoples yards and taking them to this lady trying to pass them off to her as her dog, as if she couldn't tell! She would tell them that it wasn't her dog and then they would leave and they were just dumping these yorkies on the side of the highway! They didn't take them back to their own homes. Then this older woman starts calling the number in the ads and tells this lady that she has found several stray Yorkies around where she lives. Of course none of them were her little girl, but she did recognize some of the dogs as ones that these guys had previously brought to her house! Geeez, can you believe this? I didn't know about this until it was already over, so there wasn't anything I could do to help, but man that made me furious. I'm so glad that I never let my babies out of my sight, otherwise they may have stolen my babies! |
  People suck so much it is just about hard to swallow!! |
I would rather give my baby up for free to someone I was sure would take good care of him, rather than "selling" him for a good price and not being sure if he was being cared for properly. But that's just me. (Not that I would EVER give my boy away, of course) |
I was going to say...If your giving away ill come get him! HAHA:D :D :D |
I think it's stupid when people obsess over the price they get for their dog moreso than where it's going. If I ever had to rehome my pets (heaven forbid) the price would be the LAST thing I think about! |
I know when I sold Parker I had orginally paid $700.00 for him and was asking $550.00 so I knew someone really wanted him.. Of course I took much less than the $550 for him because I knew this was a good person. But I dont think its wrong to ask some money for him since I paid more, had all his shots and even had him fixed. I didnt get my money back, but it really didnt matter. I felt he was going to a good home and that was important thing. I could have lied and put him in the paper and got 700-800 but I'm not like that. I wanted to be upfront with who ever got him about his problems. |
I completely understand getting money for an animal. BUT If your in desperate need and not willing to go down 100.00 than you have a problem. It is not like me asking them to just give the dog away. I offered 400.00 and would go get her and they said no! That is wrong IMHO |
i would give it away free also ... no doubt about it if i had to.. the money would me nothing to something so precious... |
Is it me or?? I think their theory is that you'll take better care of an animal if you pay for it(and the more you pay, the better you'll treat it). I'd say that's kind of true. If the pet is priced too low you run the risk of a puppy mill or backyard breeder buying it just to get puppies out of it. I know my sister sold her one year old bulldog for $1,000. I would never pay that for an adult dog that wasn't housebroken but someone did. Then they had the special surgery that helps with breathing for bulldogs. A bulldog is a very expensive dog vet wise, she also figured it they couldn't afford to pay for the dog then they'd never be able to afford the vet bills. |

Maybe they paid 1500 for it and before they give it away for under 500 they will rather keep it. Just because someone is desperate doesn\'t mean you should try to lowball them and then catch an attitude when they don\'t fall for it. |

unfortunatley money is what makes the world go round. It is such a shame that animals are exploited through money. What is $100 for the well being of a dog?????? People with money arent always the best pet owners.JMO |
