smile! Your on candid camera. We have had Schatzie for a almost 2 months now and she has never been alone. We work from our homes and take Schatzie everywhere we go with us. Well, we wanted to go out to dinner last night and see how stressed she would get being alone. So we decided to set up our video recorder and record her while she was in her playpen (an acutal baby playpen). After arriving home 2 1/2 hrs later Schatzie met us at the door. Hmmm, she jumped out, never did this before! So we watched the video and to our dissapointment the battery died before we got to see her great escape. Luckily however the tape did show her not being stressed. She played well with a toy we left with her, drank, used her potty pads on the other end of the playpen and napped through most of the tape. Sure would have liked to see her escape. Luckily she did not get hurt landing on the tile floor!! And also glad to see no potty marks anywhere on the floor. Has anybody ever video taped their babies before to see how they act alone? I guess now she will have to stay in her kennel but hate to see her in there for over an hour or so. But the playpen was nice while it lasted as she had room to roam. When we are home with her, she never tries to escape. She just hates being alone. I wish I knew how to ease her being alone other than having the tv on and such.

| That was great!! Sorry your battery didn't hold out for the "great escape" ... that would certainly be interesting! We too are fortunate to hardly ever have to leave Toto ... they are indeed, "velcro dogs"! We found that on those rare occasions when Toto has to be alone or if we have strangers such as repairmen, etc. in our home, that an X-pen is perfect! You can expand it or make it as small as you want. We keep it on the dining room tile [when we use it on carpet we fold a "tarp" to set it up on and it protects the carpet from water, food or God forbid, an "accident" ]. We simply place her wee wee pad, a little fleece bed, food & water stand and if we have to confine her to it we put a few favorite toys & blankie in! We leave the gate open all the time unless she is confined. She loves it ... like it is her own little place of safety in there and she just comes & goes when she wants ... like her own private dining/bath!! She doesn't get upset or try to get out if we have to lock the gate! This works for us and is extremely portable. When we are out of doors we put two X-pens inside a Gazebo with net sides and it gives her a large play area and we aren't afraid if we take our eyes off her that a big predator might swoop down and grab her!!

What a GREAT idea! We hardly ever leave ours either as I work from home, only to go shopping and Spanish class really! Now we have a pup and Gypsy Rose plays with her, a video recording would be great entertainment!! Betteanne - I LOVE the expression "velcro dogs!!". good to be back on here after 2wks of comp. probs!! Ana xx

My niece is 8 month pregnant, so I have been spending alot of time in the baby department I am so excited to be a great aunt. I saw at Target in the clearence area they have a net you can put over the play pen. It was less the $10. It had elastic around it so it should fix any play pen. Maybe this would work Schatize, your little escape artist ...........Cindy

YES! I did this to Yoda one time when we out to dinner. Guess what he did? SLEEP the whole time! :P Though our tape ran out too, he just slept and listened to his classical music on KING FM. I wish we had longer tape as well so we could see him get all excited when we come home. It's the best feeling to be greeted by Yoda when we get home!

The net on top of the playpen sounds like a wonderful idea. All the times I had gone to Walmart I would take Schatzie with us in her purse. But after reading of all the security guards making those carrying their "velcro dogs" it scared me to go into WM anymore with her. Today I went and I felt lost with out her, ha ha. We left her in her kennel this time. Her kennel faces our other pooch, Annabelle so I figured they could both have stare off's while I was gone. Also turned on the tv so they had some sound. Amazing how we worry so much about our dog's well-being isn't it?
