| Wondering if anyone has gone through this? Hi everyone! I was curious to know if any of you give ur doggies treats and if so do they stop eating there food thinking that they will be getting treats all the time? You see Daisy gets treats every so often. Doggy snacks, nothing unhealthy but she has not eaten for a couple of days now expecting treats. This has happened before and I don't know what to do to get her to eat regular food again . I don't want to give her treats again because then it will take longer to get back to her regular eating. Should I stop giving her treats all together???Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for listening...

| I found that I would go through the same thing with my little girl. So, I have resorted to only giving treats for training purposes, i.e. potty runs or teaching something new as in sit, stay, heal. Otherwise, no treats PERIOD! GOOD LUCK! |

| tucker did the same thing when first got him. of course, in hindsight, the lack of eating could have been a combination of too many treats and a new home. anyway, i found that many of the treats are so big that just one every time he went potty outside would fill him up in no time. so i started breaking them up or cutting them into smaller pieces. he's 5 mos now and weighs 5.5 lbs, but i still only give him the pieces and only for training purposes. a little bit goes a long way. i hope this helps |

| Our baby loves his treats, although he doesn't eat them right away when we give them to him. He'll put them all over the house for some reason. Anyway, he holds out on eating his dog food because he wants people food. Every night, at about the same time, he gets in front of us and will make this sound, sort of a "hummmmmmmmmmmmm" sound, and we know this means people food. If I say "no food," he'll give me one bark, wags his tail, and jumps in my lap, as if that's going to get him what he wants. I think they're fussy eaters. Good luck! |

| Thanks Thanks to all for ur help. Daisy finally ate today. Yuppy!!! It's about time. I think I will do as you guys said only give treats when I train her. I do feel bad about this though because she enjoys them so much.

| It has only been a problem for me when they're very young. After they grew up, it wasn't a problem at all here.

| My mom dog sat for me when Brandy was a baby and when I got back she said Brandy never would eat any dog food and she couldn't imagine she could survive eating so little food. She then proceeded to hand me all these little bags of doggie treats she had bought while I was away and told me how much Brandy liked them. DUH!!! Some of these little treats were as big as complete meal. I think Brandy gained about a pound that week!

| Ziggy is 6 months old and demands treats from the moment he wakes up in the morning. I've stopped giving him Goldfish crackers(too much sodium) and switched to honey nut cheerios which he loves even more. I don't feel he's getting enough of his regular dry puppy food so I put it in a sandwich baggie and dole it out like it's a treat. He usually goes for this pretty well....sometimes he does spit it out. Anyway, it's one way not to give him so many treats. I guess I'm a wimp but I find it so hard to deny him when he wants something.

| the only time i had trouble with this was when i was potty training Bo...and everytime he went on his paper he got a treat so he just stopped eating.....he was getting enough treats so he didnt want to eat he was already full lol.........i just changed his dog food because he got to where he wouldnt eat the iams at all to be honest with you i dont think he liked it at all and i didnt like him eating the iams i wanted him on something all natural.....so we changed him to chicken soup and he loves it i dont have to put anything at all on it to make him eat........but going back to treats i would just give him one treat a day if i was you because that way he still has to eat his dog food when he wants something to eat....good luck |
