| Going to the vet today and needed some information on vomiting bile Sorry for the last minute post. I am taking Reese to the vet at 3 today which is in 45 minutes. I wanted to ask if someone out there recalls a syndrome that someone had mentioned recently. Reese frequently vomits bile or a white foamy consistency prior to eating. It doesn't happen on a regular basis, but lately it is happening far too much. I am taking her to the vet but wanted to mention what I had recently read here. Someone had said that there is a medical term for this. I can only recall that it had syndrome in it. They had said that some dogs prior to eating will do this. I am unsure if it was related to acid reflux or a totally different condition. I have tried to feed her earlier but it still seems to happen. I will give her food in the morning and she will walk away and go to one of my area rugs.. her vomiting pad. She is wee wee pad trained and has her own room for her pads, but I suppose she doesn't want to vomit where she makes. She will have the same scenario lately. Her entire body contorts and she is wretching... eventually after what seems like hours.. usually about 30 seconds at most a clear substance or foamy white substance comes out. It is about the size of a teaspoon if that much. Then she goes running off to eat her food as if nothing happened. I have tried giving her smaller meals more frequently or a late night snack of her food, but that doesn't seem to stop this. At times she will go for a week without doing it and then it will happen again for two or three days in a row. I hate to have to once again run her through a million tests as she has often had.. thyroid.. which have always come back fine, sonograms which have always come back with an indication of a sensitive stomach.. no meds were ever prescribed, complete bloodwork and on and on and on. I will do anything of course that they tell me to, at any expense, but if I can give some names of things that it might be and avoid all of the endless tests, if unnecessary I would of course prefer that. If anyone has had any experience with this behavior, please let me know as soon as possible. I am going to my vet regardless but I would like to discuss all possibilities with her. In the past my vet had told me to give her pepsid.. I didn't want to get her used to that on a regular basis, but if necessary and I will find out today, I will do so. She has also gotten very chubby in the past couple of months. Even though she is not throwing up food I still wouldn't expect her to gain weight. She only gets about 1/2 cup to 3/4 cup of food daily. We do not feed her any treats, and she gets an occassional flossie. She will also get an occassional small amount of chicken or turkey. She is on wellness lite and had seemed to be doing okay with that. Any ideas would be very helpful. |

| Hi. I'm sorry to hear about Reese. Angel was gagging on and off after I stopped giving her dog deli meat between her breakfast and lunch. The last time she vomited was on Sun., and she vomited quite a bit of yellow bile. The other times it was only a little bit. After the last incident, I gave her some rice but she only ate that and not the kibble. Therefore, I've been adding Nutro soft food (canned) to her breakfast and dinner to make sure she eats. For some reason she won't eat the kibble all the time by itself. People on the forum told me it was acid reflux. I was told the medical problems could be pancreatitis or a liver shunt. Here's my post on this subject: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=45382. Please let me know how the vet visit goes and what the vet says.
