| Does your Yorkie bark? My 7month old Napoleon seems to have forgotten how to bark. He used to bark a lot at 2-3month old when I left him to sleep alone... then when I took him to sleep next to me, he has since stopped barking. Now that I have moved him to sleep in his xpen in another room, he doesn't mind.. and doesn't bark at all. Once in a great while, he'd give a sharp bark when he sees something outside, but that's it -- it is very rare. I'm not complaining as I love this.. but is it normal?

| Totally normal. Brownie never used to bark, unless she was startled or something, but after I took her to the groomers on a regular basis, she's learned to bark there and now she won't stop!!

| No barking is not a bad thing. My yorkie is also 7 months old as of the 3rd of this month. He only barks when one of my other three dogs(poodles) have a toy he wants, at which point he will bark continuously until they walk away from it and leave it for him. He doesn't bark when the other 3 are going crazy when someone comes to the door or at the fire siren at which the other 3 howl. Their barking has no influence on him at all. He is a nice quiet little fellow and I gotta tell ya I love it that way. I too have wondered if this is normal as I have heard others complain about their yorkies incessant barking, I have one poodle that barks continuously and I have to tell you it is very annoying, I believe he was possible inbred as he is very high strung, it isnt' just a poodle thing because I have had other poodles including the other two I have now and this is not their normal demeanor. I say be happy with a quiet companion!

| I love the name 'Napoleon'! What an appropriate name for a Yorkie! Do you know the joke where a seven year old kid never spoke and the parents thought he was mute? However, one day at the breakfast table he said: "Salt's missing!" The mother was startled and said: "OMG, son, you can talk! Why didn't you talk before?" "Salt was never missing!" I'm sure Napoleon will 'talk' when 'salt's missing'! Until then, count your blessings! |

| Mya only barks when she wants out or she is chasing this big ball that she likes. We were camping and there were 5 other dogs there that would not shut up the entire time. I was afraid she would pick up the barking but she didn't. We get many compliments about how quiet and well behaved she is.

| Tigger's bossy so when he barks its either to get something he wants or he's playing.

| Shyla barks all the time. If I tell her to be quiet, she will. But the minute she see's something (like a cat) then she's barking up a storm! Blossom is a quiet little girl. Even when she barks it's more like a low growl, or purr. It's cute!

| I'd much rather have a yorkie who doesn't bark, than the two yappers I have now! Don't get me wrong, we love them to bits, but sometimes their barking is just too much! They bark at everything you can imagine. Nothing escapes their notice, and heaven forbid someone rings the doorbell! All hell breaks loose. I say - Count your Blessings..lol

| Sissy started barking because our other dog barks incessantly! Whenever Sheena begins to bark, Sissy will bark. That means when Sheena thinks she hears something, when she sees anyone/anything outside, when a car door shuts, or when someone comes to the door. Sissy settles down right away. When she is with me by herself, she has never barked at anyone/anything. When she is sleeping with us at night, she will bark if she hears something, though. Its really not as bad as it sounds and she is much quieter than our other dog.
