| The cute puppies at a local pet store. Okay guys, me and Zoey went get her some new toys at a local pet store here. As we were loooking around, she started barking at the puppies in the window! We went over and the had the absolutely cutest babies in the world! I saw two very young Yorkie pups in a kennel, so I asked if Zoey can play with one. The lady kindly let Zoey wrestle with the puppy in the room we were in. I asked the lady how much she was, and she said they were $1300! My jaw nearly hit the floor! I asked how old were they, she said they were born on May 21st! I was still in shock! It's sad how they had three full grown Shih Tzus in one kennel. I wanted to buy all of them in the pet shop, but my credit card would fry! They even had 2 Chihuahuas in one kennel. They each were $795! I was like oh gosh! All of the puppies seemed so sad! I just want to save them all! What should I do guys? |

| I always thought that it wasn't safe for our babies to play in the pet shop. Too many diseases. I'm not trying to scare you but I wouldn't let my baby touch the floor in any pet stores. Too many horror stories.

| Aww those poor babies!! i too, would feel like taking them all home. Over here in England pet shops dont sell cats or dogs so i luckily dont have to see all those poor little puppies. I think the general sensus on this forum is not to buy puppies from pet stores for a number of good reasons, although it breaks your heart. But its up to you good luck, keep us posted |

| yes, I agree I actually stood in a pet store yesterday and CRIED! They were so precious, it was very hard for me not to want to hold them and love them, even if just for a few.... it was very sad, eventhough they really looked healthy and happy pups. d

| I don't go in pet stores 1. reason is the one that's close is nasty and it smells really bad makes your tummy file over gag oh no I'm getting sick just thinking about it. 2. the one in the mall has sick puppies for sale and that breaks my heart. |

| I have a hard time just going to PetSmart becasue they always have the dogs and cats from local rescue groups there and it breaks my heart, I want them all. I went on saturday and they had at least 30 cats and 20 dogs spread out all over the store in cages trying to find forever homes for these poor little guys. I seriously was about to cry and my husband could see that. He thinks I am insane, but he is sweet about it. I told him he could never buy me a bigger house becasue I would just fill it with lots and lots of dogs. I told him with all these dogs that need to be adopted there is no way I will ever be able to buy another dog from a breeder again. I feel like my next dog is definelty going to have to come from a shelter.

| I held a Poodle, and he seemed very afraid. He started scratching me, and accidently caught my bottom lip. The lady apologized and cleaned up my wound. I found that weird how he was so afraid. She said they have a Summer Camp for kids, and the puppies play with the children. Play with the children? Do they know how some kids handle them? Are they fricken nuts? |

| pups Unfortunately, it is very unsafe to take our Yorks into a pet shop and many other places..it is not fair, but it is a fact. Many diseases are airborne...the new dog flu is one. The news here in SO Florida is not good..they are putting dogs down right and left at the shelters and pounds..no adoptions are allowed right now. I buy from places that do not sell dogs.. So many pet shop pups have kennel cough and coccida...please be very careful...best wishes |

| Please don't, under any circumstance, buy from the pet store. If you do, you will be part of the vicious puppy mill cycle. I know it's hard to leave those puppies there in their cages, whining and wanting a forever home, but if you do bring them home.......please see below link where they come from..... http://www.puppymills.com/

| OK, I need to rant. Please don't take offense. It's not the puppy's or kitten's fault where they come from! They still deserve a good home with lots of love! I'm not supporting puppy or kitten mills when I say that. I bought two kittens from pet stores, one would not have survived had I not taken him home and nursed him back to health. He was so malnourished. He needed to be fed every 3 hours around the clock and would not eat unless I held him. I feel as though I rescued both of them. They both were my favorites of all the cats I have had. IMO, go ahead and rescue one, but do what you can to put the pet store selling them out of business. Bad press usually helps with that! If no pet stores sell animals, the mills will have no place to sell them to and they too will go out of business. Where I live, thanks to bad press, there are no pet stores left that sell dogs and cats. A few sell hamsters and other such critters, snakes and lizards etc. |

I know exactly where the puppies in Pet Shops come from but in my opinion, everyone deserves a caring loving family who will love them to pieces. Even the puppies int he pet stoers deserve a chance. If had the money and had the space for another dog, I would've bought one. Everyone deserves a second chance, and a better life. | |
