Contemplating About A Yorkie HI I have found what i think to be the yorkie of my dreams. I immediatley have fallen in love. She is 10wks old and weighing a whopping 10oz lol. I need advice what do you guys think should i buy her. |
Whats the question?? :D |
up 2 u? i think its ultimately YOUR choice. the yorkie sounds adorable. how much? If the price is reasonable and you trust the breeder i'd say go for it! :p |
she is asking 5000 |
Honey if you have that kinda of cash and want to throw it somewhere ok. Why in the world is it so much? |
The breeder said she wants to be sure the baby has a good home. she is so tiny at 2.5 months old she is the length of a dollar bill |
5000 that way to much do you know how many yorkies you can get for that price !!! |
Um...well, personally I would rather pay less for a regualr size yorkie b/c I've heard the smaller ones have more health problems...I mean, my baby's parents are both 4 lbs. and I'm only payin 600 for her...But its up to u really |
What In The World..... :thumbdown $5000!!!! i think thats ridiculous!!!! and i'm not cheap at all! i really think that pup is OVER-priced!!! like someone already said, if you are rich and have that money to waste, then okay. BUT if you're making decent money and you're NOT rich, i'd say DONT do it. i'm sure you can find another small yorkie going for $2000. good luck! |
Please be sure if you decide to by this small of a pup at that price that the breeder has screened it for liver shunt and other health problems, with testing. |
Thanks for the advice. i ahve been searching all over for a yorkie and there are no breeders in my area i've only heard bad thing about the ones that are in my area such as llovers yorkies |
5000 bucks  gollywollyhugmydolly u could buy at least 5 yorkies with that kinda money and start a yorkiefarm :D My friend payed 200 euro for her yorkie and she is TINY! Chelsey weighed that when she was 10 weeks old and shes growing as if im feeding her pokon  so sweety, u never really know with these babies :aimeeyork |
For $5000 you can buy an airline ticket to any breeder in the country!! - who cares how far away they are. When I see a price like that, I think it's all about breeder making $$$$$$ not good, healthy (big or small) Yorkies! |
I would shop around if I were you - of course, I also couldn't even pay $5000 for a dog in my dreams. Some of the best breeders I know sell their dogs (great quality, from champs) for under $2000. Best of luck |
pup I don't care if she is $5000 or $500, she is too small to leave the breeder right now. Tell me where you are located and I all but guarantee between Whispersmom other members and myself, we can recommend a nice pet female for 1/3 of that price..what do you think Rini? |
Amen, YorkieRose! What makes that lady think she can charge 5 grand?!! Listen — no matter what puppy you bring home, when you get him/her into YOUR arms in YOUR home, he/she WILL BE the "puppy of your dreams". We paid nearly TEN TIMES LESS than that for our puppy.....and the's the best puppy we could ever have imagined. There is no even $1,000 puppy that is better than our Sully. We love him to pieces...and you'll love yours just the same. Go on a vacation to Europe with your $5,000 - but please, don't pay that much for a puppy. (That breeder has some nerve!) |

Definitly mouth dropping, eyes bugging, tongue hanging,to much. No one here is telling you what to do, but it looks like a unanimous opinionof keep looking. That is an extremely tiny puppy, sure they are cute, but they are also high maintanence. My husbands grandmother has two teeny tinies they are 7 mths old and one weighs 1lb10oz, and the other is a little over 2 lbs. She didn't pay that much for hers combined. It is easy to fall in love with the little guys, and if you chooce not to get this one you will find another that is perfect for you. Good Luck in your choice. |
Thankx you guys if i am not being to nosy could you tell me what is the highest price you paid for yorkie(s) |
I paid 1200 for a female thats gonna be about 3lbs as an adult. Five thousand is high but its not the first time I've heard of someone asking that much. |
I paid 1000 for Ginger, no papers and she's going to be 4-5 lbs as an adult. I wanted a smaller one, but when i saw the "teacups" i said nm.. they are absolutely fragile! :D |

My Caesar weighed 2.9 lbs at 11 wks. he is now 6 mo old and weighs around 5 lbs. He won't fit in those cute little purses but he is very healthy and all muscle. So he probably would be about 4 lbs if he wasn't so active. He is still small. My Cleo weighs 3.3 lbs. and is 11 wks 2 days today. (I used my candle wax scales to weigh her today so I don't know how accurate they are) If you want one smaller, I got Cleo Tuesday and my breeder had a drop dead georgous little boy that was born 2/10. She will let him go in another 1 to 2 wks. He was a lot smaller than Cleo. If Cleo turns out to be Caesar's size then I guess this one to max out at 4 lbs. His mother weighed 6 and his dad weighed 4. He was quite a bit smaller than her and that is the only reason that I didn't get him. I have a pic if you want to see him. I babysit a neighbor and have a step son, my hubbie is 6'1" about 260 so I wanted a bigger Yorkie Not over 7 lbs but not 3 either. I paid $750 for him and $775 for her. She went up on her prices 2005 so she is asking $800 (m) & $850 (f) now but still that is a good price and her pups are very healthy. anyway this is all my opinion and if you don't have kids and want the smaller one they go for it. I just really think 5k is too much. You could even take a 6 hr + drive somewhere to find one. Where are you? My breeder has drove hours to find champs to buy for breeding maybe she can help you. Good luck and again this is only my opinion. |
lovebug could you please pm me your breeders info, i live in richmond va,thanks :) |
The average cost, at least in CA is between $1,500 - $2,500. $5,000 seems like a lot to me. I would pass. There are plenty of beautiful yorkie pups out there for less. |

Lexy was $1200 and all our friends thought we were crazy! She will be 3 lbs. or less fully grown I think. She is 1 1/2 pounds now at 14 weeks. Of course if she got to be 50 lbs. I would love her to pieces!!!! $5000 is a total ripoff and I would be skeptical of someone who is in it for the money! |
Hey. Well, my baby is suppose to be 4-5 pounds and I'm only paying $600 for her. Which is a really good deal. But the lady I'm buying her from isn't a big time breeder. But the puppy is DEFINATLY healthy! :) |
Way too much. That is not worth it. YOu will find another puppy you love just as much. YOu really have to ask yourself what kind of person would be selling that dog for 5000? That is waaaay too much. |

Have you checked the internet about this breeder, have you spoken to her on more than one occassion...How did you find her.... Make a list of questions to ask her, and see if she will give you any references. If you are a set on this buyer....However, I think you should reseach and read some more..And be patient |
