| flea market the first weekend of every month my town (tupelo, mississippi) has a HUGE flea market. one of the big attractions is all the puppies they sell. i guess i do go to see all the dogs, but i leave feeling horrible. it's so sad seeing all those puppies locked up in cages having to poop and pee on themselves. most of them shake the whole time cuz there's so much going on.. it's so sad. they have a bajillion yorkies from $200 to $600, however, most of them are $400. and most of them are BEAUTIFUL. i swear some of them would sell for $1,000+ anywhere else but mississippi. dont get me wrong, most of these vendors arent puppy mills. but they arent being too considerate with their dogs. but then again not everyone pampers their pups like we do. BUT if anyone wants me to go buy a dog for them, since they are cheaper here, i'm sure we could work something out. i could take pics tomorrow and whatnot.. just a thought. they also have almost any other kinda dog you'd want. |

| I saw a news item on TV about a year ago (I forget which show, but I think it was on PBS) which showed how those flea market pups are sometimes either stray dogs, stolen dogs, or the puppies of stray/stolen dogs. It's as inhumane an existence as a puppy mill, and some of these people go on to sell whatever they can't sell as pets, to labs that do animal experimentation. It's a very sad life (if you can call it that) for those animals. |

| I've done some research in the past few months on puppymills and what I can do to help this problem and I've found that some puppymillers sell to auctions, see link below. http://www.critterhaven.net/pmauction.htm These puppymillers sell to anyone they can, pet stores, auctions, even people who have booths at flea markets - just anywhere they can make a quick buck. The condition at flea markets might not be as bad as the auction, but they are just a smaller scale version of these horrible people. They are still breeding to make a profit, not making the breed any better, even selling sick puppies. These people make me sick, sick, sick. Sorry for the ranting, but I just can't help the churning feeling in my stomach every time I think about these puppymillers.

Mikey, I've said it before and I'll say it again..... you have a HUGE tender heart and what a kind offer you have made ..... please please, don't lose that soft heart as you grow older. Maybe someone out there will take you up on your kind offer so that you can rescue yet another doggie in distress. | |

| What a sweetie you are to take the time to offer. I am sorry for the little doggies in cages. I have never been to any thing like that . Its a shame more can't be done for them. |
