Standard breedings we will run into these small kids from time to time. I know I have a little girl right now Prissy that is 4 mos. old and only weighs 1 pound 12 ozs. Mom is a little over 5 pounds and Dad was almost 5 pounds as well. Due to her size I have been in no hurry in placing her and feel very comfortable with her being with me right now until the right home presents itself. Puppies at this size takes more care as far as I am concerned and special care.

Here is my baby girl!! I love her to death...
So adorable! The pic on the left looks like another little Haruka!

I'm going to see her next sunday!!!! I'm so excited!

Dewclaws are removed, puppies have been dewormed, 1 year health guarantee against liver shunt and legg perthese. She said they are very healthy - good heartbeat, good patellas, good bites, and structurally sound. Her pups are all microchipped and have had their first set of vaccines.

She said she doesn't guarantee the size or color of her dogs - BUT - get this - she said if the puppy exceeds 4lbs then she would have to evaluate if it was structurally small but maybe overweight. If the pup actually exceeded her guestimate, then she would refund the difference of $500.00. I have this is writing in an email and believe me, I will hold her to it!! She is 10 weeks old right now and weighs 1lb 12oz. I don't understand all those size charts and such - but for all you experts, based on the size she is now, do you think there's a good chance she'll be less than 4lbs full grown?

If things go as planned, I may have her by early august!

Here's her picture again for you guys to oooogle!!!

I guess as a breeder I am wondering why only one set of vaccinations?? This concerns me. I have to admit I hold off on the rabies vaccinations on my smaller babes. But one and I am assuming she will be 12 weeks old when you might get her??

To get a better idea on adult size on a pup you would have to take the 6, 8 and 12 week weights and compare them against each other to get the best guess as pups go through growth spirts.

This pup is a cutie no doubt about that!!

Thats good that she will refund your $500. I looked at the size chart and it says she will be 4.25 lbs but the size chart isnt always accurate

Ya, I got Oscar at 4mths, so he had had all of his shots except rabies, which we administered at 7mths. I've actually run into quite a few breeders who only administer their first set of vaccines... I don't know why. I wish it was taken care of...

Congrats I'm so excited for you. I know you can't wait. I think these tinies are absolutely adorable. But, and this is just me. I don't think I would want one only because of our lifestyle and my son who is high functioning autistic, not because I'm afraid that he would hurt it, he has never hurt any of our dogs. He gets so excited from time to time and doesn't pay attention to what he is doing. Nothing has ever happened to any of ours. I would be paranoid all the time that if we had one that tiny that it would get steped on or sat on. Ours have come close several times to being sat on but they can move pretty quickly.

I think our dogs are just the right size. Mollie is 6 - 6 1/2 lbs and Wyatt is around 10lbs at 11 months old. Wow, I just realized Wyatt will be 1 on the 27th of this month. This year has flown by.

It sounds like you have found a great breeder who is very responsible.

Keep us posted as to how everything turns out.

My guess would be the puppy is going to be over 4 lbs probably 4.5 or a little bigger. I have been into the tiny yorkies for about 4 years now and I have guessed wrong on the weight at maturity once, so maybe this will be my second time guessing wrong. You said 10 weeks and weighs 28 ounces, thats about the 4-5 pound range, but probably not under 4.

Good luck eithier way, she is a cutie regardless.

I hope it all works out for you and she is everything you are looking for. Sissy was 1 lbs, 14 oz. at 13 weeks and is now 4 lbs 1oz, but very small in size, just solid.

Default Get excited again

Just to make you feel better, my puppy was $300 more than her sister. There was only about a 4 oz difference in weight but she had the cuter face, prettier coat and weighed less. It was worth the extra $300 to me to know that I bought the one I've always wanted

Oh I am so happy for you!!!!!!!!! Congrats on getting the guarantee of size or 500 refund! I agree she should have the 2nd set of shots before you get her. I won't presume to guesstimate size, but my little one was 1lb 5 oz at 12 weeks and now as a 2.5 year old adult she is 3.5 lbs. The puppy I just purchased is 1.13 oz and is 16 weeks. I don't know if she'll get over 4 pounds, but atleast I have my guarantee. I hope all goes well next Sunday!!!!!!!

Your best bet is to ask how much the parents weigh and look at the parents next Sunday. That will be your best estimate as to what the puppy will look like full grown.

Congrats!!!

The little girl's mum weighs 5lbs and the Dad is 4.5lbs and they are GORGEOUS and both Canadian Champions. I wish I could remember the website url so I could post pictures (I'm at work right now). So I guess based on the weight of the parents she could very well be 4.5lbs - she could also be 8lbs or 3lbs - you just NEVER KNOW. At this point, I don't much care - I'm just so excited!

So now I've got competition for this little one - turns out someone else is really interested in her too! I get to see her first though!

Hope everything works out....

Snickers is smaller than the normal size Yorkie so I am told. I like them small also. She is the size of our friends 8 week old Boston Terrier. She is under 4lbs and is a yr old now.
You need to do what you feel is best for you, you are not one to mistreat your animals or any for that fact so just love the one you get and spoil it rotten

As far as the pricing goes. I am not sure about pricing of Yorkies but I do price a little higher for my show marked Dane pups out of our litters. Is this pup you want more cause of her size or is she show marked? Sorry I am not sure about Yorkies and how it all works on this end so just a question and a thought to why she may charge more for the pup you are looking at.

She's charging more simply because of her size. I personally don't think she's going to be as tiny as the breeder says, but if that's the case, then she says she will refund the difference. Regardless of how big/small she is i'm gonna love her just the same! She is bred from two champions but due to her smaller size, she would not be a showdog - too small to show. I think the standard size for show yorkies is 5-7lbs.
