Oh she is a cutie! I would get her. The price they are asking is what I expect to pay for my next one that is going to be a tiny

I know she is just tooooo cute!!! Doesn't she look like a "Dottie"?

I wrote back to the breeder and asked a few more questions about health gaurantees and such... I even took a shot to see if she would put a clause in the contract that gauranteed her size! (Doubt that will fly - but doesn't hurt to ask!)

I'll let you know what happens!

I would do it!!!!!!!!!! She is such a little cutie!!!!!!!!!! What is her age and weight now??? You could tell the breeder you don't have reservations about the price if she stays small. Tell her you are willing to buy her if she stipulates in your contract to reimburse you if she gets over a certain size. Its more than fair to you both. That way you pay for what you get. If she ends up over a certain size you should have paid what everyone else paid for that size. Anyways good luck!!! Keeping my fingers crossed!!!!!!!!!!!

That's exactly what I did - too a shot in the dark and asked if she would put a size gaurantee in the contract. I'm so set on her now that I'm afraid she'll say I can't have her now! I feel like I'm pestering her with all my questions! Oh well, I just hope she has at least a 2yr health gaurantee (that's what Oscar has) and all will be good I think. I'm hoping she'll get back to me so I can go see her tomorrow! As soon as I see her I know I'm going to fall in love! :p I think she must be 10 or 11 weeks right now, not sure of her weight though...

I hope you hear something soon!!! She is soo cute it doesn't matter the size. I hope you get the guarantee, but either way I wish you the best. I don't think you've scared her off. You will get her. She won't lose out on a sale because you are cautious. It's to be expected for you to ask questions and feel confident and content with your decision. That does not make you a pest. 10 or 11 weeks she'll be almost ready if not ready to go home!!! Hope you can get the health guarantee.

I personally feel that whether they are tiny or standard their price should be a set price... peroid. I do not charge any more for mine when they are smaller it is just one flat price. I think they are just trying to get more based on the fact that they are small. Something I don't believe in is breeding for tinies. Standard breedings we will run into these small kids from time to time. I know I have a little girl right now Prissy that is 4 mos. old and only weighs 1 pound 12 ozs. Mom is a little over 5 pounds and Dad was almost 5 pounds as well. Due to her size I have been in no hurry in placing her and feel very comfortable with her being with me right now until the right home presents itself. Puppies at this size takes more care as far as I am concerned and special care.

Here is my baby girl!! I love her to death...

I agree - and not just because I'm looking to buy one. I can understand paying more based on pedigrees etc. but size just makes no sense. The little girl I want was one of 5 in a litter - the other 4 were standard size and have sold already. I don't know how the breeder can say that a "teacup" is NOT a runt... how is it not? Unless you are breeding two extremely tiny dogs together to make teeny tiny babies, a smaller puppy mixed in with standards would be considered a runt in any other breed would it not?
It's nice to know there are breeders out there like you!

I have to tell you I hate the word teacup..:mad: And the thought of those that will breed something that small to try to produce pocket pets. They are not taking the welfare of the dog in accountability and that outrages me to be honest!! Then to do this for the $$$ :thumbdown To capitalize from the this... don't want to get me started on that one....lol!!

The joke will be on this breeder if the runt grows bigger than it's littermates, because this happens as well...:rolleyes:

Just gorgeous!!!!!!! What a doll!!! I wish there were more breeders like you. I took me 6 months to find my puppy. She is going on 16 weeks and is 1lb 13oz. The breeder guaranteed her weight or money back, but he did not stay at his set price. Females were 1000 and males were 850, but tiny females 1500 and males 1350. I know what you mean about the speciall care. He didn't even ask if I was experienced in the care of tinies. My first yorkie was a tiny so I was, but it should have been an issue.

She is a beautiful little girl. I can see why you are in no hurry to place her! I like your thinking on pricing. I wish more breeders felt the way you do. It appears to be common in MI that a tiny puppy is at least $300 more than standard size.

Don't be afraid of bothering her a good breeder will answer as many questions as you have. A GOOD breeder will want you to ask questions because that way they know you will take care of the puppy you are buying from them. And if they do get annoyed with all your questions then imagine how they are with the puppies bugging all day. I wouldn't want to buy a puppy from a breeder that wouldn't want to answer my questions that just means they are not a good breeder. She is wrong for charging extra for the tiny ones and like you said I don't know how she calls it a tiny when its just the smallest of the litter of 5. That makes it the runt and like others have said in this thread that sometimes runts grow bigger then the rest. Have her put a clause in the contract (thats if she has a contract:confused:) about her gauranteeing her size. If it was me I would not buy the puppy for that price, that just proves the breeder is right that people will buy the tinies at higher prices and it gives them more reason to keep pricing them so high:mad:

Let us know if you get her or not

Oh, I see you already asked her about the contract, let us know it will be intersting to see what she says. Also, you should ask for her phone number to talk to her on the phone. You can get a better sense of a person when you talk to them on the phone.

yeah i'd be concerned about where the pups come from too. some of those people are really good and respectable breeders, however, some are not.

and yeah i'd prolly never ship a pup, i'd be willing to drive a few hours away to meet someone though. but anyhoo it prolly isnt a good idea for someone to buy a pup without seeing it and playing with it first.
