| Question on my dogs coat.... This may be a silly question, I'm not all that educated on Yorkies. Anyways..Tilly is silver and tan but lately we have noticed more black coming in on her coat. She has always had some black on her but it seems more and more keeps coming in. Not on her head but on her back. Does this happen certain times of the year? Or could this happen with age? Thanks to all that reply.

| I know that their coats continue to change all the time. How old is she? |

| Lacy went from black to blue and then to silver which progressively got lighter and lighter as she aged. Around 12 years or so it started coming in very black again right at the part down her back. She was diagnosed with Cushing's disease shortly after I noticed this, but I took her to the vet because she was eating enormous amounts. So in looking back I think she was losing her hair and it was new hair coming back in. Cushing's isn't usually diagnosed until a dog is much older than yours so I don't think you have to worry about Cushings, but maybe look into a coat supplement or other hormonal causes if you think she is loosing hair. |

| I haven't noticed her losing any hair. She does have very thin hair though.

| Their hair can change on you. Chachi had silver hair on his back then he got a skin problem and he lost all the hair on his back. When it grew back it was black.

| I never actually saw the hair loss either, but I did notice it seemed to be thinning. I just thought it was due to the aging process. The next time you take her in I would mention it to the vet and maybe have a thyroid test run to make sure she doesn't have hypothyroidism. |
