| Fine hair mats? Yorkie oil? Greetings, I'm a first-time Yorkie owner and I need advice. I'm told that my Yorkie has super-fine, unmanageable hair and despite daily grooming she is always a matted mess. I've tried dog shampo's/conditioners to no avail. Is there an oil that might help? Brylcreem? Please help. She will look stupid if I have to shave her . . . |

| I've recommended this several times, and many others swear by it as well: The Cowboy Magic products, specifically the "detangler and shine" worked a miracle with my little rescue's hair. When I first got her, she was unhealthy and her coat was a matted mess, and I don't know enough about coat types to say what hers is, but even though her hair is very fine and silky, it still mats like crazy. I use the Cowboy Magic shampoo and conditioner, and then (someone else here recommended this), towel dry, rub about a nickel's worth of the concentrated detangler through her hair, and blow dry. And that's it---for a week, from one bath to the next, her hair is tangle-resistent, and the comb just glides through it. I found these products at a local "feed and seed" type place....it was originally intended for horse manes/tails.

| Oh, I just reread that right now you are thinking you might have to shave her down. Like I say, my girl was a MESS when I got her. I tried several methods, b/c I didn't want to shave, either. This may be a little crazy, but here was my breakthrough: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=42506

| One more vote for Cowboy Magic Concentrated Detangler and Shine. Excellent product for removing matts. I bought it at a feed store also. A little goes a long, long way. I paid $23.00 for a 16 oz. size, but it will last me forever. |

| Let me add my two thumbs up for Cowboy Magic. Cooper was getting a few mats, I think where his vest will rub his coat, and that Cowboy Magic is just that, MAGIC. A little goes a long way. It seems oily at first, but as you comb it through the oilyness goes away. Also, the matts don't come back even after wearing his vest all day. The other thing, I usually gave Coop a bath every 4 to 5 days, but this week we went a full week and he still looked pretty good. This is all with the detangler and shine...I am going to get the shampoo and conditioner next.
