| Doogan saves the day - re home robbery Well, little Doogan is a true crimefighter. My hubby and I were enjoying a rare sunday evening at home and were just laying around relaxing on our second floor when Doogie starts to bark like crazy and get really agitated. We both thought that the cats had spooked him so we let him continue to bark (thinking it was funny of course) and tried to play with him at the same time. About ten minutes into his barking frenzy my hubby went to go down the stairs and like he always does, he stops half way down the stairs and waits for the boys to run toward him (his version of cat and mouse)and then he crawls up the stairs and chases them. This time however, they did not run to the top of the stairs but stayed with me so then hubby continued down the stairs. When he came back up he told me that I had left the back room door open on the main floor so he closed it. Not even a 30 seconds later and we have a knock at our front door from our neighbour saying that they had just seen someone jumping out of backroom window and taking off down the street!! When we went to investigate, we found that the guy had smashed our back window and snuck into the house and had made it into our main living area before hubby went downstairs. He did manage to get a few small electronics but worst of all he got our cash reciepts from the bakery for the long weekend. The police were really good and attended within a hour (they know where to get the good donuts!!) but unfortunately could not get any good fingerprints. anyways this all took place at 7:30 in the evening - broad daylight - UNBELIVABLE!! Without our little watchdog, Doogan, who knows what the outcome could have been. The treats and praise have been non stop for our little crimefighter as he is actually a little shook up about the whole thing. Never underestimate the tone of your yorkies bark - I know we won't again. P.S. I have to commend the Winnipeg Police Department for bringing the term of "there is nothing like a man in uniform" to all new heights!! |

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | OMG !!! What a good boy and how scary for you ! We had a similar experience at 10:30 AM with my neighbors - the dogs barked so much the guys took off and they caught one right on my back fence..... Thank God you all weren't hurt or murdered - that's the worst thing about being robbed - it only takes a split second for a gun to go off !! |

| Yorkies are such good watch dogs! Gooooooood Doogan! You deserve a donut! We always have a look when Mitzi is barking, you never know, and that makes her feel good and important. We pick her up and go around to 'find the bad people' and she is all vicious watch dog, growls and barks until she is satisfied that everything is o.k. |

| My husband would always make the comment about yorkies being yippee dogs. However, he said that maybe that would be a good thing. Cause if they hear a noise they go crazy. We have had several kinds of vandalism of property stolen, maybe now my dogs will give us a sign.

| Guish.. you are so lucky. anyone who has the stupidity to do something like that in the daylight would certainly be of great danger to you and your Doogan. I think I would put up a sign.... guard dog on duty. I'm glad everyone is ok.

Banning Thread Dictator Donating Member | Good job, Doogan! Hmm, I wonder if Eddie's been chasing away burglars all these years instead of barking at EVERYTHING that walks down the street. I'll have to pay closer attention. LOL, but you make a good point. I'll be more sensitive to manic barking after reading about the hero Doogan!
