| Help! Hi Everyone, My puppy Baxter is 7 weeks old. I have been trying to keep him in the bathroom during the day while I am at work with his crate, food, water and pee pad. This has been working out Ok, but when I am home, I can't always be with him to play. I have to get some housework done! I got a large wire crate from my daughter, thinking it would be good to have him in the room with me while I am working so he can see me. But he is throwing a huge temper tantrum! He is even making himself vomit and gag. I hate to keep him locked in the bathroom all the time, do you think he will get over this and get used to it? I have carpet and can't let him run free when I can't watch him. I am also afraid he will get so spoiled he will be unbearable. I needs some words of encouragement and advice! Pat |

| He's still very young and misses his mom and siblings. Maybe you could carry him around while cleaning in a kind of baby sling? That's not like spoiling him to much more like giving him the warmth and security he needs at this young age. |

| He is too young to be away from his mom and siblings. I would not worry about spoiling him right now he just needs to feel loved and secure. The sling is a good idea. I did that with mine when they were small.

| Have you tried playing with him a bit before you do your housework? |

| awww he just wants to hang out with his mommy. I would consider getting a little sling like someone else suggested. He is really young and just wants to be with you. Don't worry this phase will start to come to an end soon. Before you know it you'll be wondering what happened to that sweet baby that always wanted to be with you and now all he wants to do is play.

| Sling it for now, and then belly bands..... So far you have some great advise here.....I had to do the sling thing too. I didn't let my little one out of site, so tiny. Start looking on ebay or elsewhere for BELLY BANDS......these are wonderful for training too, especially when you can't watch them all the time. I have new carpet and the belly bands have saved it. Accidents will happen, but not often. My baby only has accidents because he is on a diuretic and sometimes can't get to his piddle pads in time. Thank goodness it is only on the kitchen tile. Otherwise, he wears the belly bands when I can't have my eyes on him. Oh, to have another little tiny one..........I just think that is my favorite time with a new Yorkie..so sweet. He is very young and missing his littermates, you are going to have to fill that gap. I made a sling out of a soft baby blankie, and we vacuumed the carpets, dusted furniture and well, just everything together. I will never forget those moments, precious! Have fun with your new baby and be sure to get those belly bands ordered! When my babies go anywhere with me, they have them on and my girl has her little panties on...works perfect. Good luck to you and you came to the right place for support! |

Peeka Boo I See You! Donating Member | My baby is 7 weeks to and he crys and howls and barks when he wants attention from me i have him in a large playpin during the day while he sleeps and when he wakes up i take him out to potty then i let him eat and drink then he goes out once more and after i know he has gone potty i let him play in the living room for a while till he's tired then i put him back to bed because at this little they need to sleep a lot to maintain their bloodsuger. He too has to be at my heels or in my arms and i think it is to be comforted because we are thier mommy now so they need that attencion from us. The sling is a great idea in fact i am going to get one now i also let him sleep on my bed in his kennal at nite so he can see me at all times so he isn't so scared and he is sleeping through the nite with no accidents. So mabey just give in to him till he gets a little more independent it is a pain but it's the price we pay when we bring them home really early. Hope this helped some here's some picks of peeka to he weighs 1.3lbs. P.S congrats on your baby!

| I agree with Chachi, pup's that are under 8 weeks old are too young to be away from their mom. This is only my personal opinion but I think that they should not be separated until they are at least 9 weeks, ideally 10-12 weeks. |
