well to be honest when I started looking for my yorkie, I'd never heard of yt and didnt for a while later. but If I had read these threads over and over I still would have searched for one that wouldnt get over 3 or4lbs . That was just my choice and still is as far as what I would look for again. I think all people have preferences as to what they want and its their choice to make. As far as health is concerned, I think you can get an unhealthy larger one as well as a small one. I dont think breeders should breed for money, but if I had the money to buy the kind I wanted and knew it would stay about 3 or 4 lbs I would go tomorrow and get one, but most are unreasonably priced. To each his own. I would still love to have one about 3 or 4 lbs as long as it is healthy. I dont want to buy a 6 or 7 pounder that is sickly either as i'm sure nobody does. But things happen even to bigger ones. Maybe chances are slimmer, I would still take that chance to have a smaller one. As long as people keep breeding for smaller dogs, they still need a nice home and loving care as much as any other and I am a good mom to my yorkie and would be to any I have. I just dont want to be ripped off by a lying breeder who knows what their doing. Personally their isnt many people I would trust again to buy a puppy from period. Now I wouldnt trust the breeder again that I got kizzy from As I feel like I was used. But I love kizzy anyway, she cant help it. |
Michiko, I haven't read the other thread, but don't let it get to you. I know you and I know Stacy, and neither of you take things lightly. Haruka is lucky to have such a wonderful Mommy and 'Grandmom' to care for and love her. HUGS! PS... I've heard Haruka has a website.... PM or email me with the address if you would. I'd love to see some new pics of her! |

After the sleepless weeks and I mean weeks and countless hours of worry and how many vet trips with that kid (one bout of vomitting/soft poop and we were off),every test under the sun....I honestly cannot believe people can bring themselves to breed for tiny ON PURPOSE. They must be on prozac or something. |

LOL or maybe they're not on Prozac and need to be! ;) :p |

Stacy is one RESPONSIBLE breeder to make sure everything :) |
confused I'm not really sure what was said but, everyone has their opinion...and that's just what it is...but, your furbaby is just a puppie...and she will grow...she may stay small and she may not...yorkies are a small breed...My little girl's Mom was 10 lbs and her Dad was 7 lbs...Sadie weighs a whopping 5.5 lbs...so you never know how they will turn out.... |
I have no problem with really small yorkies. I love them as much as I do with the standard and even bigger yorkies. The only problem I have is when people intentionally breed small yorkies and keep getting smaller and smaller yorkies and breed them as well. If you are going to breed, you don't need a yorkie that is only 2 pounds. You don't have to have a tiny yorkie to get small puppies. If they are 2 pounds and they are just a pet, that is fine, but to breed them that small, is just wrong. As far as pets go, who cares whether they are tiny or big, you will love them just as much, so if you want a tiny yorkie as only a pet and you are aware of the special care it needs because of its size, then go get a tiny, just don't breed him. JMO. |

Michiko - my grandma asked me once when I was very hurt: "What do you think happens to a 100 year old oak when a dog lifts his leg on its trunk?" "Nothing I guess..." I answered. "Right," my grandma said, "next time somebody 'lifts his leg on your trunk' just imagine you are this 100 year old oak!" :aimeeyork |

I said some posts were hurtful. It was hurtful necessary to me so much, but I cannot imagine YT members who lost their small love ones or someone who is struggling.. That is all. I guess we learn by listening to some of those posts..but then as many said, some of the stuff are not our control!! |

Well I know exactly what you are talking about. When I started looking for a yorkie at the end of last year I knew nothing about “teacups”(the term being bad or health or anything) then I found YT well I have to say it scared me to death to even think about getting a smaller yorkie. When I started checking around I would specifically say I don’t want a smaller one. My point is that until I did even further research I really thought all small yorkies were bad, health wise. Since then, mainly because of people with smaller yorkies speaking up, I’ve realized that you can have a smaller yorkie that is healthy. I do think that sometimes, not all threads, but some do end up making it sound like all small yorkies are bad and that wanting one makes you bad as well. I would like to get another yorkie in a few years and I do not want it to be smaller but only for the reason that I want it to be about the same size as Reagan. That’s the only reason, but if I can have reasons for wanting a specific size yorkie why can’t others, no matter what size they want. Michiko, even if you didn’t get your pup because of the size it shouldn’t matter if that were the reason. |
