| SHe had her babies! Question?? Ok so, My loivebug that I rescued from her neglectful family( if you remember she was found to be pregnant only after I got her home and had had her for a few weeks) She had 4 cutie patootie babies. Prev owner claims they are 100 percent sure they are from her Shih Tzu.Anyway, the teeniest little guy ( 3 1/8 oz) has something wrong with his leg. Had I not beent here I would have thought it was broken but it looks like it jsut grew funny or something it doesnt seem to hurt but it feels like it is not attached to the hock and it jsut hangs there.Other than that he is a healthy little turd. We go to the vet today. Just wondering if anyone has ever had a leg problem at birth. I will be just heartbroken if they tell me there is no help. I had evryone of them homed a as soon as I found out so there is no lack of owners but I will probably keep him because of his leg. Not sure....Momma is doing fine and this is probably her first litter, She was a little neurotic at first but she is calming well, She ahted being in the welping box, crate x-pwn etc so I put up the palypen I had for Devil when I first got her and it is working out great. I think she got claustrophobic. Most of them haev the yorkie look with almost a chocolate coloring so cute ! |

| AHHH...poor little thing. I don't know anything about it but, sounds like a birth defect. I am glad you got a vet visit scheduled. let us know what he says. Hope it all goes well.

| He is so cute too! I have a soft spot for the underdogs. he is a little spitfire though. he is right up there when they are all nursing and I actually didnt noitice his leg until I was looking at some pictures and thought "weird" SO I ran and got hima nd sure enough, his leg is weird. I ams ure they will jsut try and splint it maybe and see if it will develop somewhat. I cannot see them really doing anything other than that as he is so so tiny. ANyone have a shih tzu yorkie cross? Just curious as to what he may look like. |

| I have a 9 month old yorkie, Rocco, that I was blessed to rescue. Luckily, the breeder was compassionate enough to try to give him away before putting him to sleep. When I first got him, he could barely walk, he had to drag himself around with his two front legs and if he ran, then he could get up on all fours. His left back leg is backwards(thats what is looks like to me). We took him to the vet when we first got him and they took xrays and we took him to an orthopedic surgeon. The surgeon said it was a birth defect and there was nothing we could do. Within a month of him coming home with me, he was able to start walking on it- I think he just needed room to run and some excercise - I'm pretty sure he was locked up in a small cage before I got him. Now, he can run faster than my other 2 yorkies that have all 4 legs!! He loves to play fetch and he's very active - he just has a funny gait is all. He can climb stairs, jump on the couch- everything a normal dog can do. His back leg just bends the opposite of what is should. What Rocco lacks in a good leg he has made up for in other areas - when he runs, he just tucks his bad leg in close to his tummy and runs like the wind! |
