Thin or no hair

I did trim him some to get rid of the flyaways and dry ends. I did get the cowboy magic detangler and you are right it is wonderful.
I did not see how cutting the hair could change the hair shaft from straight to curly, thank you your answer makes sense.
I will keep cutting a bit off here and there till his adult coat comes in
right now his hair is about 2 inches long all over and layered kinda cute.

My five month old yorkie has a smooth coat ... just little whisps of hair here and there... he is registered, does have the right coloring... black roof... stand up ears, just funny hair...anything wrong or anything I can do to help it grow ? thank you. he is full of personality , just not much hair, figured he'd hair by now... :-)
