I believe an albino of any dog type is possible, since it is simply a lack of pigmentation. It is my understanding that all white animals with blue eyes (when this is not standard coloring) are usually deaf in at least one ear. There are also "blue" yorkies that are all silver/white. There's one named Silvia on the boards. I don't believe she has blue eyes, though. Why are there three threads about albino yorkies all of a sudden? |
1 Attachment(s) Now, now, now, I did find one.................Attachment 274496:lol tears |
I'm not sure if it is a true albino. Albinos have red eyes/pink eyes. I saw a white yorkie (he looked like a yorkie, maltese look different, although could have been mixed). With blue eyes and a black nose. I've seen pictures of another yorkie that looks white/light gold with greenish or bluish eyes with a pink nose. They were soo cute |

An albino in any breed (from Human to Canine) always has pink eyes. Albino means there is no color pigment. Of cousre its possible to have a solid white Yorkie. If this pup has blue eyes than it is in not Albino.;) White is a recessive gene as are blue eyes. A more interesting side note is that there are several canine breeds evolving to new color schemes. I would be interested to know what in the enviroment is causing such changes accross the globe.... |

It's seems that people don't seem to realize that these colors are from poor genes and this could and usually does mean that there will be health issues with these dogs. Years ago when I was researching doberman pinchers I came across many sites that breed "white" dobermans. It seems people try anything to make a buck and don't care if it hurts the dogs. |
Albino Yorkie .... sounds like Biewer mix with Maltese:rolleyes: |
:animal-pa Genetics states that albinism is caused by a failure of the body to produce melanin, which is what gives color to your hair, your eyes, and your skin. This can occur in any animal. As far as the eye color, an albino's eyes are in fact opaque. However, blood may be seen through the eyes and can give them a pink appearance. They are not always red or pink, however. |
Albino Gennies, You are correct in that most people are only interested in making a buck and usualy the new different color patterns in dogs do bring a great deal of money. It is my belief that most don't realize that most of these new patterns are due to weak genes. I don't necessarily think that's the case in every breed though. We also breed Walking horses and have noticed new color patterns there as well. We are seeing more and more greys and roans, as well as blue eyes. I think its a combination of man and enviroment. Which leads to another question... What changes in the enviroment have made previously undesired traits become more prominent? Is this really nature or is it again man? There was a study done years ago in animals who being tested for various things. (An action I do not condone) As a side study, the researchers noticed that animals (cats, dogs, fox, mink, to name a few ) that were colored black or black and white were easier to handle and more willing to trust their captors. Therefore the breeder scientists began to selectively breed for these more bidable colors. So, this is a direct effect of man manipulating nature for his own purposes. The other colors were deemed "weak genes or undesireable" by man's standards, not nature. So maybe nature is changing again and this time man agrees? |

Saw one on Instagram 1 Attachment(s) I saw a very light colored yorkie, almost white on Instagram and they claim she's an albino yorkie. I attached some images from her account. She's super adorable and tiny. I was searching albino yorkies and came upon this forum. |
