Need suggestions..immediately
 
There's this lady that has 2 yorkies that are APRI registered and about a year old. SHe is selling each for $500.00 and they are not trained at all. SHE KEPT THEM IN HER BACKYARD..for BREEDING purposes only. My heart tells me that I need to rescue these poor little babies but I don't know if I should. What does everyone think about this?

Sounds to me like she really wants to get rid of them. I would ask her if she would cut you a deal...ask her if you can have both of them for $600. Those babies DEFINATELY need rescuing! If you have the money to do it, I say do it! Poor little things.....

did she actually breed them? I think if they are healthy and if you think you will have the time to invest in their training, go for it. But bottom line, make sure they are healthy first.

Did she ever breed them? Have they ever got any shots? I would ask her for a deal (since she seems eager to get rid of them -- poor little babies). Maybe both dogs for $600 or $700.

How awful! It might take some patience training them but you would be doing a wonderful thing rescuing them. I just can't believe how many people are keeping these dogs outside. That is horrible. I hope you can rescue them.

Agree with Nobella about their health. And quick question...you state they are "about" a year old? Did she breed them or just intend to breed them? Or are they older than "about" a year?
Also are they on heartworm preventative?

They look pretty healthy to me they just look look wild dogs that needs to be tamed. They seemed pretty happy when they saw me and when I left the female seemed like she was pretty sad. I know I have the time for training but she won't cut me a deal at all. She says $500 cash FIRM. And I think they have been bred twice (if I'm not mistaken)

She said they had 2 litters. SHe mated the female at 6 MONTHS and again at 12 MONTHS. She said that they are not on any kind of preventative and she gives them the store brand dog food.

If the babies are healthy, I say open your heart and buy them! If they're not healthy but you still want them..ask her for them both at a cheaper price. She's cruel to keep those poor fur babies outside in the heat. :(

Please correct me if I am wrong but if they have been bred twice, they would be older then 1 year old. They're probably between 2-3 years old.

Tell her that if she isn't going to cut you a deal that you want to take them to the vet to make sure they are healthy. Tell her that you aren't paying $1000 for unhealthy dogs!

Any chance she'd agree to let you take them to your vet and get his opinion? Can she supply medical records for them?

Okay after talking to her for about 20 times after I've seen the dogs she has agreed for me to take them to my vet. So I'm off..I'll update as soon as I get back

You know what, I agree with your husband. One way or another, you'd be saving those girls from life as a breeding machine. I'd take them immediately before she sells them to someone else. That's just my opinion and everyone is entitled to do what they want but if I was in this situation, I'd buy them and give them non-stop LOVE LOVE LOVE and KISSES for all that they missed out on during their first year of life.

I asked if I could take them to the vet's office. I'd agree to pay the full price if I could have them checked by the vet. I shudder to hear about dogs left outside in a humid area without heartworm preventative.

Oh my gosh, this is awful. No way should that have happened. I just get so upset when I hear that people do things like this. I am so sorry for that poor little female yorkie, and those poor babies she had. I just hope whoever got them knows that the lack of calcium could be a real problem for the puppies as well as even the mama. This makes me very, very :( If this person was so irresponsable then I doubt very much that any of them had their shots,etc. Patti

ABSOLUTELY. If there's any way on earth you can rescue them both and handle whatever short-term costs are involved with the vet, etc. I'd say grab them, too. Even if it's not practical for you to keep them long term, I bet you can find good homes for them through YT!

if you have the funds (even for unexpected vet bills)- DEFINATELY rescue the poor babies. if you dont theres no telling where they'll end up

I am also interested in what the vet says! Hopefully they don't have heartworms or anything bad. Good luck!

Did she say why she was getting rid of them?

Please take pictures and post them so we can see.
