We thought Sophie would weigh 5-6lbs and she now weighs 12lbs. We thought she would be silver and she stayed black. (which I really like) We thought her ears would stand and they didn't. We didn't know she would have such thick beautiful hair. I thought I wanted a smaller dog but turns out she has been perfect for us. I babysit for a little boy and have lots of neices and nephews so I don't have to worry about her getting hurt as much as if she where smaller. I am so glad that I didn't know all about the breed standards and all the stuff I guess you should look at when getting a yorkie because I would have missed out on the best little yorkie girl in the world.

Before we got Trace I did tons of research on the breed. Thought I'd learned everything, what I didn't expect was the yorkie personality. Yorkies have personality overload.

Ramsey's personality is much different than Trace's...so it's not just different sizes and looks...they each have individual personalities.

This is beautiful. We get gifts in many different packages. The excitment in life is opening then up and enjoying even if the don't appear to be what we wanted. We soon learn that we are blessed beyond our belief with the gift we got! Tucker is one lucky pup

When you're going to have a baby, it's like planning a fabulous vacation trip-to Italy. You buy a bunch of guidebooks and make your wonderful plans. The Coliseum. The Michelangelo David. The gondolas in Venice. You may learn some handy phrases in Italian. It's all very exciting.

After months of eager anticipation the day finally arrives. You pack your bags and off you go. The stewardess comes in and says, "Welcome to Holland".

"Holland?" you say. "What do you mean, Holland? I signed up for Italy! I'm supposed to be in Italy. All my life I've dreamed of Italy."

But there's been a change in the flight plan. They've landed in Holland and there you must stay.

The important thing is they haven't taken you to a horrible, disgusting, filthy place, full of pestilence, famine and disease. It's just a different place.

So you must go and buy new guidebooks. And you must learn a whole new language. And you will meet a whole new group of people you would have never met.

It's just a different place. It's slower-paced than Italy, less flashy than Italy. But after you've been there for a while you catch your breath, you look around, and you begin to notice that Holland has windmills, Holland has tulips, Holland even has Rembrandts.

But everyone you know is busy coming and going from Italy, and they're all bragging about what a wonderful time they had there. And for the rest of your life, you will say "Yes, that's where I was supposed to go. That's what I had planned."

And the pain of that will never, ever, ever go away, because the loss of that dream is a very significant loss.

But if you spend your life mourning the fact that you didn't get to Italy, you may never be free to enjoy the very special, the very lovely things about Holland.

Thanks for sharing that story bchgirl. I can think of so many times in my life I've planned Italy and ended up in Holland- but I wouldn't ever change a thing!!!

M very first Yorkie, Karma turned out to be 18 lbs grew no coat and had floppy ears. I lived at home when I got him but left him when I moved out a few years later, Beccause my Dad absolutely loved him. To this day he talks about Karma and it's been 36 years. When Karma died at 13 he built a shrine on his dresser for him. He was AKC registered.

My little guy is about 9 pounds (maybe more) --- he hasn't been weighed for a long time. So that was a surprise to me. But - I couldn't be more pleased because he is so healthy, happy, and playful -- and can hold his own with everyone and other pets - and I don't have to worry about him at all. And - he is sooooooooooooo cute!!!!!!

you sound just like what I did. Kizzy weighed 1 lb @ 6 weeks. I was told by the breeder she would be too small to breed and probably wouldnt be over 4 lbs or so. well she is 4 months now and weighed 5.6 lbs a week ago. the vet dont think she will get much bigger if any (but his guess is probably just a guess like the breeders. ) And I did pay 300 extra bucks for her after the breeder told me that when I could have gotten the other one for 300 less. I still think she is pretty and i love her and she is smart but I dont feel like i'm the brightest bulb in the in the house for paying that for her now. But I wouldnt trade her. I was gonna have her spayed as soon as she turned 6 months old and I still might, but I thought if I could get a real small male stud and breed her she might have a smaller pup or one smaller than her but I've never bred any and I dont have a clue what to do. But If I get a stud sometimes they want pick of litter more so than money and if she only has one puppy, then i'd have wasted my time and I also prefer to have another female. But if I got a much smaller puppy I would still keep her. All I would like to do is her to have one puppy that stayed less then 5 lbs and her. then have her spayed. can tell me what they think about this? hubby dont want me to have her bred at all.
