| Question About Bear's Ancestors I have a question about my Bear's ancestory. Upon receiving his AKC registration papers, I looked at his pedigree. Unlike my previous Yorkie, Pasha, this pedigree only goes back three genertations. I noticed that Bear's "parents" are Toby and Minnie P. Toby's grandparents are Minnie P's great grandparents. I'm no expert on dogs but this looks like in breeding to me. Could that be why Bear has a wavy, short, thin coat instead of having full hair? I emailed the AKC and they referred me to my vet. My vet has Bear on vitamin E capsules for his coat. Anyone out there familiar with this or have a similar story? |

| I got a poodle once that also had parents and grandparents the same on both sides. I quickly sold the poodle. She had a heart murmer and it was a bad one. I didn't need her to die and the kids see it. I suspect the reason for the heart murmer was the inbreeding also.

| Inbreeding can be very good or very bad. It is something that should be left to the professionals that know about breeding, dna, and genetics. I would have to say that this sounds pup was inbred and done by someone who was inexperienced and did it for the money. The ones that are inbreed by the experienced are stunning and gorgeous with few to no faults. They do it to improve the breed or keep a certain trait. When inbreeding is done by someone who does not know what they are doing or who just stick two dogs together the result will be several health and conformation problems. Inbreeding is something I will never do, it is just a really complicated process, I will leave it up to those who have researched and done it for several years.
