| My scams Last week I posted two litters of Beagles out of our F.C. Indian Hills Nightrain on beaglesforsaleonline and within three hours, I began ti get scammers. They all started with, I am interested in your puppies. I will require, your last price, pictures, and something else I forgot. I told him sorry we don't sell to scammers. the first litter I listed online on that site about a year or so ago, I fell for that and gave him the info he asked for and pictures. Then he got into the I need to know your address as i will be sending you three thousand dollars for you to take out the cost and send me the rest. My agent will pick up the dog. I told my husband that I think a lot of people think because we are in kentucky that we are ignorant. I have got so I can read the first line and know it is a scam. |

| How to report scammers Here are some warning signs for scammers and phone numbers to use to report a scammer. I got this from nextdaypets.com: Buyers who claim to be traveling abroad and offer to have their "agent", "business associate", "friend", or "shipper" complete the transaction. They may offer to pay by Cashiers Check for over the amount. This 'buyer' will claim to be trusting you to return the overage of funds. Banks will often cash these checks then hold you accountable for the funds once the check fails to clear. Sellers who insist that you use Western Union or other money transfer services. Sellers who reside in distant countries. Sellers that request money to be wired to Romania, Ukraine, Macedonia, Belarus, Pakistan, Russia, Lithuania, Egypt, Lagos, Nigeria, Colombia, Malaysia, Indonesia or Cameroon. tend to have a very high incidence of fraud. Unless you have a lot experience with international orders, you may want to decline to send money to these countries. Sellers offering a Dog significantly below market value. This is often a scam to engage many people to send money for this non-exsistent dog. You will never receive the dog. Sellers who request that a "shipper" be paid directly or sellers that state the Dog will be delivered directly to your door or destination. All Dogs shipped via an airplane must be picked up at the airport. Sellers who state that you must send additional funds to get the Dog through customs. Seller insists that you use an online escrow service other than Escrow.com. Before using any escrow service verify the company with the Better Business Bureau to insure the business has a satisfactory record. Do NOT trust a seller whom: 1. Uses any techniques as noted in the Common Internet Scams and Warning Signs link above. 2. States they are from Africa, Lagos, Nigeria, Cameroon or London. 3. Insists you use Western Union or other money transfer services. This type of payment offers ZERO protection. 4. Speaks of missionary work or AIDS relief work to build trust. 5. Cannot provide additional 'personalized' photos. Who should I notify if I suspect fraud? FTC toll free hotline: 877-FTC-HELP (877-382-4357) FTC online complaint form (www.ftc.gov) Internet Fraud Complaint Center (www.ifccfbi.gov) Internet Crime Complaint Center (www.ic3.gov) Last edited by irishawk; 06-12-2006 at 04:20 PM. |

| OMG...James Clark.... My husband and I were scammed a few years ago by a person named James Clark. It was for an outboard motor, not a yorkie, tho. We were new to the internet world and were in desperate need for money. I have MS and my husband was out of work due to a back injury...so we were selling it to pay bills. I had even told that to the guy! I guess they'll do anything to get ur money! They have NO heart! If I could get a hold of him, it wouldn't be pretty.

| Sort of OFF/ON Topic. Scamming in general. Do not reply to an e-mail you suspect to be a scam or from someone to whom you have not given your e-mail address. These scammers have software that goes through billions of web pages "in the blink of an eye" and they sweep up all the e-mail addresses they find that have not been properly protected by the site owners. Then they send out e-mails to those addresses. Often ISP's will note a large number of e-mails from the same address being sent to their subscribers and will advise their suspicions. Above all, DO NOT REPLY. That only proves to the scammers your e-mail address is still live. They sell live e-mail addresses to other scammers at (only) $100 per thousand, it makes them a very good profit. Then you'll get even more scam or spam Some very good advice here. It's not just about Nigerian scammers. Don't get mad, get even. See how other people are dealing with scammers worldwide here. The forum and some of the pictures are very funny |

In the Markpuppy site, the same story is there, with losing a wife replacing the husband. But when it notes the remarriage, he forgot to change he to she... so it sounds like he married a guy! Funny, huh? scary people out there! | |
