| Taping the ears When I got Sammi 2 weeks ago at 6 weeks old ( i was very surprised to get her that young) the breeder taped her ears .She made a template of Sammi's ear then did a triple layer of 2" masking tape.Laid the template on it and traced around it.She cut out the pattern and placed it on the inside of the ear ,then wrapped masking tape around the ear to hold it in place. She said that this will help the ear cartilage to strengthen and after 3 or 4 weeks ( replacing the tape every 3 days ) the ears would stand straight.I have had them taped now for two weeks ( changing them as needed, the tape really doesn't touch the skin on the inside so it does not get tender )The only thing I can figure is that since Sammi was so young when I got her that this is a common practice.I did a Google search and found all kinds of patterns and explanations of the taping.Has anyone here ever done this with their dog? Does it help? I will continue for another two weeks ,she is the breeder so should know what she is doing and she showed me how to do it.Satch has one ear that flopped when he was about 6 1/2 months old so I tried it on him but I found on the computer that it could take up to 10 weeks for his to stand up but no guarantee.Neither one of the puppies scratch at their ears or try to get the tape off and when I change the tape there in no dirt or smell. I just clean the ear andput the tape back on. I hope to hear from you and find out your take on this. Thanks to you all

| When I first got Buttercup at 8 weeks, one ear was standing and the other was flopping. I tried taping it for 2 weeks but once the tape is removed, the ears started flopping again. I started massaging the floppy ear and after 3 days it was standing up and still standing at a little over 4 months. |

| This sounds better than just using tape. I have 2 puppies that are about ready to have their ears taped. I am going to try this method. There mother was 4 months old when I got her. Her ears didn't stand up. I taped them and in about a week they were straight up. Thanks for the info. |

| At 8 weeks, Bailey's were both floppy. I rubbed her ears and had the hair trimmed from them, but mostly just listened to the people here on YT that said they would stand up sometime. They did, between 10 and 11 weeks, I think - but now I kinda miss the cute floppy-ear look. |
