| Found another one! So we found an add in the paper for a yorkie, a lady is selling him because she is going through a divore and has to move, therefore no where to keep him. He's 5months old, 3lbs. Were going tomarrow to check him out. He was originally brought from a breeder. He's dewormed, had 1st set of shots. What other questions should I ask her about this dog before I make my decision? |

| If turns out to be the one, I would ask if she could bring him to your vet and get a check up before you buy him. Good luck.

| I agree...I would take it to the vet to get checked out before you buy it. Hopefully it doesn't have some terminal illness and that is the reason she is trying to get rid of it. Good luck, and let us know what you decide to do! |

Donating YT 1000 Club Member | At 5 months old this pup should have had all its shots already. He probably won't get too much bigger either. Maybe he is already housebroke. Good luck tomorrow! Let us know how it went. Getting a new one is soooo exciting.

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Great I hope it works out. I would ask if you can have the name of his vet and verify his health record. Also how he is doing with potty training. let us know. Where about are they located.

| Yeah I do want to see his vet records, and she said he only had first set of shots. It's located in Vernon Hills and is only $600 |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | He's prety old to only have 1 set of shots. illinois requires rabies by 4 months I believe. That's close by at least. I would also ask her the Breeders name and if he has papers just so you can see where hes's come from. That is exciting can't wait to hear how it goes!!

| Also something to consider since this happened to me, he might really not be 5 months..the person told me 7 months and really was 9-10 months ( which really didn't matter too much but if it is behavioral it does matter)and ask questions like what his condition is like and especially BEHAVIORAL problems if any! The person can still lie like what happend to me though. They may be getting rid of him because he is a big barker /bites/aggressive/fearful etc...but maybe not..yes take him to the vet if you have a chance. I didn't because this lady was a vet tech and assured me he was in good health etc.. I had to drive 2.5 hrs after work to get there and drive home another 2.5 hrs so it was night, I was tired and I picked him up at a vet's office. He had kennel cough and was soo underweight, his teeth were soo dirty, and he has bald spots from malnutrition. Good luck maybe this lady is truly moving and can't take her little one. I hope that is the case. Keep us updated!

Donating YT 30K Club Member | i would just be a little leary since the pup is so young and you wnder if she didn't know she would be moving so soon after getting him . It also could be he's not housetraining well and she doesn't have the patience. Good luck if you need anything let me know.

| Some breeders do not release registration applications until after proof of neuter, you need to find out WHY she doesn't have the registration. It's a little odd that he's only had one vaccination (probably given by the breeder), so I would wonder why this person didn't bother to vet the dog. The most important piece of advise I can offer you is when you have him checked out by your vet, have him bile acid tested for liver shunt...better to be safe than sorry, and at 5 months he likely wouldn't have exhibited any symptoms yet. Vets can do a urine bile acid that doesn't require fasting, or a blood serum test that does, the latter IMHO being the better test, unfortunately it will take a few days to get the results back, but better to know before you invest your money and your heart. Good luck, and I hope all works out for you and him..sounds like you will be a much better home than the one he is leaving.

| Good luck, keep us posted. I know it's exciting, just be careful Definatly have her checked by the vet, at 5 months she should have had all her shots.

BANNED FOR NOT MAILING PRODUCTS PURCHASED | I would get the breeders name and phone # so you can call her. Ask if he is crate trained? does he potty in the house, that could be another reason she is getting rid of him. |

| Were going to go check this dog out in about an hour. So here are my list of questions to ask about this dog.

Why the shots aren't up to date?
Breeder contact/info
any health genetic problems in the family
temper w/ other dogs and children
vet records and contact info
registration papers
potty triained and any other training
liver shunt
where it's been raised
rabies shots
If you guys can think of any other questions let me know. This is all I've thought of so far. I called my dogs vet to ask what I should ask about and they pretty much said everything I have already thought of, but I want to know as much as possible. I'm really afraid of getting an unhealthy or bad tempered dog. |
