Some breeders do not release registration applications until after proof of neuter, you need to find out WHY she doesn't have the registration. It's a little odd that he's only had one vaccination (probably given by the breeder), so I would wonder why this person didn't bother to vet the dog. The most important piece of advise I can offer you is when you have him checked out by your vet, have him bile acid tested for liver shunt...better to be safe than sorry, and at 5 months he likely wouldn't have exhibited any symptoms yet. Vets can do a urine bile acid that doesn't require fasting, or a blood serum test that does, the latter IMHO being the better test, unfortunately it will take a few days to get the results back, but better to know before you invest your money and your heart. Good luck, and I hope all works out for you and him..sounds like you will be a much better home than the one he is leaving.
