How did you come up with your yorkie's name? TeeJay's name actually was supposed to be T.J., which stands for my fiance's first initial and my first initial. We decided later that "T.J." would look cuter spelled "TeeJay". I am interested in knowing how you all came up with your yorkie's name(s)! |
letter B All my yorks have started with the letter B. First I didn't think about it. My first york's name was Bitteli (means tiny in norwegian), it was the breeder who chose it for us. The next one, his breeder name was Espris Virvelvind (virvelvind is tornado), so I called him Bajaz (means crazy). I thought that my next york would be named Bambie. And then I realized I used the letter B....and my brother owns Bambie's brother, and he is a U2 fan and called his dog Bono. So I think I will always try to continue finding names on B:) |
lexi marae moms name is marie dads name is ray |
We came up with Chachis because there was a character on a show we were watching that had that name and we liked it. Our 5 yr old daughter named Jewels |
That was the only name my bf and I could agree on, he hated all my cute names for her and I hated all his names. So finally we agreed on Lady, cause she did look like a little Lady when we got her :) |
When we met with the breeder and picked out our puppy, she would call them all together "Come Here, Babies" so at 8 weeks she was responding well to Babies. When my wife started looking for a name for her new baby (technically, it's her pup since she was a Mother's Day present) she came across Bailey. She liked it and it sounded a lot like Baby - so now we have an adorable little Bailey (who will be 12 weeks old tomorrow). |
We named Seymour after Richard Seymour, 3X S.B. champ;) |
Mine's sorta long.... We live in Jacksonville and I have the First Coast News website as my homepage. One day I saw one of the reporters had a blog about the twins she was pregnant with. The blog was about how they couldn't decide on names and her husband kept picking stupid names. The Jaguars football team is big here, and he suggested naming the children Jacksonville and Jaguar (i guess he is really obsessed with the team) or Matt and Jones after his favorite player Matt Jones. I was telling my boyfriend about this story one day and we started thinking about how Jackson would be a cute name for a son, and even Jax. About two weeks later we got our Yorkie. He has so much spunk and personality I wanted a lively name. I also wanted something with only 3 letters. I thought Jax was a good fit, plus it has that sentimental aspect to it since this is where me and my boyfriend fell in love. :heart to So I guess the name is short for Jacksonville. |
Millie's full name is Chamomile Sage. I am "all about the herbs". I grow them, use them and love them! So there was no question, my sweet puppy was going to have an herb name. I picked the name even before I met her. We call her Millie or Millie Sage. and the name fits! |
When I first held her I said, "Look at this BABY!" So that's what I named her. I also named her Baby because I didn't want to be one of "those" people that named their dog something and called them something else. I figured I'd call her Baby anyway. WELL, I call her everything BUT Baby! LOL Usually I call her Poo Poos. :p |
I wanted another Yorkie, since my dear yorkie had just died. I could not afford another since they are so expensive now. There was a terrible "hail" storm on Good Friday evening that damaged my car terribly. The insurance paid us over 4000.00 for the hail damage. Guess who is gettin a new yorkie pup?:D And....her name is "Hailee". |
I'm conceited and wanted my dog to be named after me...so I named him Monte |
Love at First Sight! I purchased my male Artie, on the "Internet" and in the caption under his picture they listed him as Sir Arthur, so that's part of his registered AKC. name but I call him Artie for short and my ex-boyfriend was from Boston with a strong accent so he only responds to "Ottie". My female Princess Abigail was named after a Teddy Bear with the same name that I got from Hawaii, where I am originally from. I call her baby girl or mama for short depending on my mood? |
I named him after my poppa Oscar..... first name that came to me cause he had such a white head, like my poppa did. |

My husband and I are both LSU fans- he likes football and I like baseball. My favorite football player is Chris Jackson, the kicker, who also plays third base. Jackson got his name. His middle name, Wiggles, is because from the day we picked him up, he has been a wiggle worm! |
Both of our girls are named after Jimmy Buffet songs!! My dad loves him and I have grown up listening to him and when I was little he called me "Lil Mis Magic" after one of the songs....so when I got my first puppy I knew just what her name would be. She is my first baby and I had to carry on the tradition my father gave to me!! When I got my 2nd puppy, I wanted to keep the trend so we went through tons of Jimmy Buffet songs and I loved the name Sailor and so it stuck...and we later added Bear because she looks so much like a little teddy bear!!! |

My baby's name, Tila (Tea-la) is short for Tequila in fact sometimes we call her Tila Tequila of coooourse later we found out... Tila Tequila is actually a porn star or something lol but we still love it. The rest of our family calls her Tiger for some reason! also we liked that TIla is TIny and other cute things that work it was a name we considered and when we saw her it really suited her spunky personality and the fact that she's ofcourse adorable! |
My first furbaby was named after Scarlett O'Hara from GWTW (I'm a HUGE fan) - Katie Scarlett O'Hara of Tara was her name and we called her Katie. Katie is now playing across rainbow bridge:( I miss her so much even though she's been gone over 10 years now. Now I have Gabby who's name is Gabrielle's Jewel (I liked Gabrielle and Jewel was her mother's name). Last year, we rescued Gage. Previous owner had just called him Lil Man and I wanted something different. Hubby was reluctant to let me keep him so after staying with us for a month on a "trial", hubby finally said we had to name him. I let him decide, thinking it would help him warm up more to him (and it worked!! - took a couple more months but it worked - he didn't like having 2 dogs in the house but he does now). He picked Gage because he wanted a "G" name to go with Gabby. |
We got Eddie from a previous owner who was allergic to him. They called him Teddy Junior, nicknamed T.J. But T.J. is my wife's ex's name, so we changed to something that rhymed with Teddy. Same sort of story for Jack. He was a rescue named Cuddles. Being a guy, I said no, no, no. Can't have a dog named Cuddles. So I went with the machoest name I could thing of at the moment, my favorite drink, Jack Daniels. Jack since proved himself as an Alaska dog by wearing his booties and romping in the snow, so I changed his name again to Yukon Jack. |
Baci is Kiss in italian. And he reminds me of a hershey kiss and my fiance bought him for me for my birthday and i LOVE him! Not to mention love kissing him ;) |
I was supposed to get a year old yorkie from a lady cause her husband didn't like the puppy, i asked what her name was and she said Izzy...i fell in love with it! Her realy name is Isabelle but it is Izzy to everyone, she is just the cutest thing and that name fits her perfect! i was thinking of either Daizy or Maizy (don't ask why the Z's) and when i heard Izzy i knew that was it! |
That is toooooooooo cute!!! |
When I first saw her photo I exclaimed, "what a little Sissy". I had been contemplating many different names, but when I said that, I knew that was going to be her name. And, my aunt (to whom I was very close) suddenly passed away last year. Her name was Mary Jane, but was always known as Aunt Sis cause my mom always called her Sis. So the name is also a tribute to my aunt. |
When I first started talking to my husband about getting a yorkie he said you are "you are kidding right?" I have wanted a yorkie for as long as I can remember. I told him I was gonna buy my pup everything I could. At that time Louis Vuitton carriers were VERY popular. So I told my husband I was gonna get one for my pup. When I told him how much they were, his jaw dropped. Soooooooo, after looking at different carriers, I found one that I liked. And of course it wasnt a Louis one. But my husband picked up my pup and said here is your Louis Vuitton. He wanted to name my dog that. I thought, wth. So I changed the spelling to Louie. |
I had in mind Chester if I picked out a male. I did pick out a male and my 3 yr old granddaughter Nicole was with me. She stated she wanted to name him Buddy because he would be her little buddy. Who could argue with that. So Buddy it was. Still like the name Chester though. |
Tiki is named after Tiki Barber, the star running back of the New York Giants. My fiance is a huge Giants fan and I'm actually the one who thought of the name! Obviously he loved it instantly and the name couldn't fit better! :D |
In Dec my bf and I were in Hawaii. While we were walking around Kona one day we thought that would be a great name for a girl dog. At that time, we didn't have any immediate plans to get a puppy. At first we thought that would be a better name for a lab. But after we got her, we couldn't think of any other names that we liked, and it fit her, so we stuck with Kona. Now the question is do we stay with Hawaiian names for the rest of our pups? |
I named my Dog's after my favorite racecar track, Talladega. So My little girl is Tali and boy is Dega. |
