Interesting News Okay, so I took Romeo to the vet today for the first time. The vet comes in and wanted to know why Romeo's ears are bald? So replied, "The breeder told me to shave them at the tip so the hair doesnt weigh them down and they will stand." He says, "It doesnt matter what you do to romeo's ears, shave them, tape them, etc.) None of this helps. His ears will stand when they are ready and not a minute sooner. He said the shaving and taping this is a myth! Interesting info. I thought. Romeo was really please to her this

| Schatzie's ears did not stand up for quite sometime, the tops of her ears were covered in hair. Then her groomer said the same as your vet did. The next week i brought Schatzie back to the groomer and said, "just humor me and shave her ear tops". So, she did and instantly Schatzie's ears popped up!

ears Many ears never go up because the hair is too heavy..especially on a cotton coated Yorkie. I got a rescue with one flop ear and in a month of taping they stayed up..he was an adult too.

Vets are wonderful for advice and treating illness BUT they are not always the best source of info for grooming, behavior, diet and breeding. Listen to those who have been breeding for a long time and that advice will almost always be the accurate information..

Yup, listen to your vet about health problems, but not every vet can possibly know everything either. We were told by our breeder to keep the ears shaved because the heaviness of the hair on the ears may keep the ears from standing up. We still used tape for a few weeks to help Yoda keep them up, and ever since, his ears are up.

I guess you have to take the breeders word on this...vet's go by fact of science but breeders have the experience of dealing with these things every day...so we need to get the best of both worlds!!!

My 5 1/2 month old Sohpie's ears are really floppy. Her ears are so big I am not sure I want them to stand up. She does have a lot of hair on them. She has really thick hair. Is she to old to try and get them to stand and do you think they look better up? Because she sure is cute the way she is. Sophie'smom
