Mutant Yorkie. World's largest yorkie?

Thank-you concretegurl for your reply. I had taken the mini pin in as a rescue and was not told she was in heat and you could not tell. My yorkie, Mickey was neutered 2 weeks after I took the mini pin in. I had no idea until 5 weeks later that pups were on the way. Thanks goodness all healthy little guys(3) and all spoken for. I am giving them away on the condition the owners are to have them neutered. The pups are sweet but nothing compares to my wild man Mickey.

Glad they all have homes now and I hope they remain healthy many issues take years to present.

Both of mine are Teapots !

And are mature enough for me to "say" how big they are going to get.
Becca at 2yo, is 8.3 lbs, and Sneakers at 4yo, is 13.2 lbs.

They are brother and sister, and their parents are exactly AKC standard dogs (weight/dimensions), but have always thrown large puppies.

I'm hopeing to get another Male soon.
I guess it's like Chips, you can't just have one.

Aren't medium sized dogs in a Yorkie's DNA / lineage? Like scotties, silkies, Australian terriers, etc. I come from a human mixed breed family lol and from what I've seen is if the genes are in ya there's always a potential for them to come out of ya lol!!

Yes larger breeds bred down primarily for small ratters that could fit in small places luke victoriab home walls which werent like the walls of today. They were double walls with like ab 8 inch space it was thought this space would hold heat...now we know we only need one wall with insulation in it.. and yorkies make better pets than pes

howdy folks, ii googled this post and joined the site, i have a full blooded yorkie i tried to post about, but its been awaiting approval for hours now. my yorkie AKA stitch was the runt of my sisters first litter, she has 2 registered yorkies, was was looking for a service dog at that time and thought i needed a large dog, but my daughter fell in love with the runt of the litter, and so did i, so as our visit was ending we took stitch home and weened her ourselves, we live half the country apart so a return trip wasnt possible. i told my sister the runt was way bigger than hers, and when she visited a couple months ago she freaked n scared us pretty well. stitch is 36.5lbs at last vet visit, she is not overweight, and never having owned a dog smaller than 100lbs i didnt realize something might be wrong. stitch looks 100% like every other yorkie ive seen just much much larger. ive tried for months to find any info on this in case it might be a genetic condition like gigantism etc. ive tried asking on other sites to be flamed etc and im hoping for just a bit of help. the local vet doesnt seem the least bit worried, "shes just a big girl" etc, but doesnt offer any knowledge or want to do tests. i dont know much about yorkies except i love mine, shes trained to get me a phone if i flip my wheelchair and goes everywhere with me. shes probably the only yorkie who fought and killed a coyote when she got out one evening as i tried to go out n save the neighbors jack russel from the coyote, i was almost in tears as i couldnt shoot with stitch in the way but she won the battle with mollys help ( jack russel). this puppy is the best of both worlds she rides in my chair with me like a small lap dog and can defend herself if need be protect us. i could talk for days about her lol. i know this got long winded, but any help about possible concerns or if i should get her to another vet etc would be very welcome. ill load pics n video asap so u can see her, ppl always flip when they see her i just never thought it could be bad till my sisters visit and her reaction. thank you for reading and for any help you can offer.

i tried twice but being new it wont allows a new thread unless someone read n allows it. after almost 2 months trying to find an answer being this close is torture. between ppl flaming me, or outright accusing me of lying, "yorkies do not get 30+lbs" etc and a rural veterinarian who mainly does pet shots n livestock ive got nowhere heh. but when my daughter found this site we read the post about everyone being nice to one another we figured why not try again. i can send videos and photos of her from 3 weeks old to current size if needed to show she really is that big, but we are going crazy wondering if something could be wrong. she stayed smallish till about 6-8 weeks n then blam she grew like crazy. im just hoping that someone here might know how or why shes so big, all her litter mates are average sized, and she was the runt. altho i have begun calling her arnold schwartza-yorkie recently lol. thank you for taking the time to respond.....shawn

Whoa! Stitch would make my two 16 pounders look tiny! I refer to mine as Yorkzillas.

Chuy didn't join us until he was a year old, so I have no idea about his growth.

We got Jezebel as a puppy and I weighed her every week just to make sure she was eating enough, expecting a gain of 2-3 oz a week. This is how it went:

Beginning weight, per vet: 32 oz
1 week (home postal scale): 34 oz .... +2oz
2 weeks (vet): 38 oz .... +4oz
3 weeks (home postal scale): 50oz ... +12oz

Do the math, her rate of growth was over 30% increase in just one week! In the 8 weeks to follow, her weekly weight increase ranged from 6.6% up to 24.1%. I stopped doing the weekly weigh-ins when she was 38 weeks old and a bit over 10 lbs, and she eventually topped out at about 16 lbs.

I kept all of her weigh-ins on a spreadsheet and showed it to my vet, and he just looked at it, shook his head, laughed, and said it was amazing. He said that if she were a large breed dog it would definitely be a problem, but since she was a smaller breed he wasn't concerned. With the larger breeds their joint growth can't keep up with their bones and body mass and it is painful until their joint growth catches up.

I love the terrier confidence and spunk and had always wondered what it would be like to have something larger than my Yorkies, such as a Cairn, Norfolk, Westie, etc. Now I've got that all in one package!

Welcome to YT, you would get more replies if you started your own thread, but I understand your concern. You have one big yorkie lol, tops mine, she was 17 lbs of pure AKC reg. puppy, no fat, beautiful sleek body. I LOVE the bigger yorkies, I cannot answer your question, I do hope more members will take the time to read this very old thread and give you the answer. I have to assume it is generic, somewhere in the blood lines of grand or great grand parents. You have an awesome puppy there, I would love to see pics of her.

Yeah, for a while, if a new member wants to post a thread or a reply in general, mods have to read and check it.

That's all right, I believe you. I don't think you'd come on here asking for help if it were all a hoax.

I can't give you any advice as I'm not an expert....but I must ask: do you know if your yorkie is 100% yorkie for sure? If you're not sure, there are some DNA tests. We'd also love to see a picture!
