My vet said that we are mistaken when we think our little dogs are cooler in the summer with shorter hair. He said that their long hair insulates them against the heat the same as it does against the cold in the winter. BUT - Certainly a shorter cut is much for fun for both you and your dog in the summer. Mine likes to play in the water and get down and dirty. He just loves it - digging, running, getting wet - and everything. So, of course, shorter hair is much easier to keep clean - and much more pleasant for him also. Who wants to be wet and washed and combed all the time???? Carol Jean

I have always kept mine in long coats, and I don’t think it has ever bothered them. Just my opinion but I would never cut my Yorkies hair, though I must say “Coco’s” Summer cut is the best cut I have ever seen! She still looks spectacular, so nice they left it long on top. I live in the East and when we get a couple of days that are very hot I wet them down and I find that helps. I always say they, though I only have Dennis right now. Don’t want to confuse anyone. If we are voting, either let Coco's mom cut it or leave it long. LOL

I love all the cuts but don't think Shelby would look that great in a typical puppy cut. Seems like silky coats look choppy, thick cotton coats look cute. Shelby will have a medium coat year round. I won't let it get too long b/c it's not practical for this little pet. I think her version of "puppy cut" will be that of a 10 month old pup, but not layered.

He looks great. I can't believe how much different he looks though. Did you think they were bringing you the wrong dog?

| Here's Loki's before and after from his trip last week to the groomer. We keep him short - that's how much he grows out in a month or two. So if anyone is worried - it grows back! I'm also more daring than most on the face. He doesn't have a top-knot and I like him with a short face. He looks SO skinny and small - and he's about 10 pounds!
