What are the stories behind your YORKIES name? 4 Attachment(s) What were you doing? How did you decide that it was his/her perfect name>? Gizmo- His breeder had named him that because he was soooo small and lil wittle he looked like a gizmo, so we kept it....he was going to be named Bailey,Chopper or Harley... but go figure....:D Madeline Raine- it just fit her... I saw her and thought.... she's my Madeline Raine... plus I have always loved the smell of rain it brings comfort to me.. you know washes away all the bad.. and well she does that for me.... awww .... my cuddle bugs!!:p Pics : 1. Gizmo first weekend we got her.... 2. up close on the ride home 3. Maddy first week we got her 4. Maddy again in her jacket... |
We had the name Bella picked out and when we got her the breeder had named her Ellie. So we ended up compromising with Ella.:) |
lexi marae cause of mom and day mom is marie dad is ray came up with lexi marae had to name something after my parents cause i have no children |
Roger was name because he was always dodging people so much, Hence roger the dodger, He was so small, and we were not used to having such a small dog, so it was new for us to watch him dodging all the new things in his pathway, Plus he never stops moiving unless he is asleep. But we couldnt name him zzzzzzzzzz's. LOL rena |
Jasmine Abigail- I just like the name Jasmine and Abigail is my boyfriends cousin's middle name. We were at her wedding and when they said it I thought to mayself that is going to be her name because we had not decided yet and we both liked that. We call her Abigail. Summer Grace- I just like the name Summer and Grace came from a little yorkie I was reading about that had been rescued. I really liked her name and the poor thing had a hard life. Thats how we picked their names. |
Sissy is partly because when I saw her photo I exclaimed, "what a little sissy" and also because my beloved aunt, whom I called Sis, passed away unexpectedly last year at 56yrs young, so it is also in her memory. |
I wanted to name our boy puppy "Reagan" after President Reagan who had just passed away. My husband wanted to name our boy puppy "Monty" after General Montgomery in WWII b/c he's a big WWII buff. But we couldn't agree on each other's names so we had to scratch both and our puppy went without a name for almost two whole days. We decided that since we got married on the beach on Sullivan's Island, SC, it would be appropriate to name our yorkie puppy "Sully". - And it really did suit his little face. When we registered him, though, his registered name is "General Montgomery Sullivan" - heehee. |
bunjee and bubba are obscure cartoon characters from my childhood. - bunjee is a prehistoric creature in a children's book adapted to cartoon and featured on abc's weekend special. - bubba is the prehistoric cave duck from disney's ducktales |
Okay it is long... His full name is Warren "Keeley" Las Vegas M. Warren- the city in Michigan we got him in. "Keeley"- (what we call him) in memory of my dh's good friend who passed away. He was an animal lover and at the funeral there were countless stories of his love for animals (esp dogs). :animal-pa Las Vegas- Where we were when he was born, and one of our favorite places to play:D M.- Our last name:p |
My explaination is a little lengthy....read my thread here.... http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sho...ghlight=ramsey |
My furbaby is Tyson Diego Brown Alexis. Tyson because he has big ears, Diego from Ice Age-Brown(my last name & Alexis-my son's last name) |
Oh I had a list of about 8 names I liked and my husband didn't like any of them. We were married in Hawaii the year before so I really wanted a Hawaiian name, specifically, Leilani, but he didn't like that at all. The breeders were calling her Holly which I loved because I love Breakfast at Tiffany's and that was Audrey Hepburn's name in the movie. We kinda decided on the spur of the moment to get her and once we heard what they were calling her we felt it was meant to be and that name almost stuck. In the end after a day we just looked at her and both agreed on Reagan. Not so much after the president either although the first thing everyone always asked was "As in Ronald" or "As in President". It was just a name we both liked I guess. Looking at her now she's definately more of a Reagan than Holly. Her registered name is lil Reagan Rocket because we wanted something different and a little funny. |
we had a yorkie named Bandit who was very sick. the vet that tried his best to save him was Dr. Tucker. after deciding to get another yorkie, my mom and I discussed for WEEKS what we were going to name him. then one day my dad said, "Dr. Tucker told me etc." and my mom and I looked at each other and went, "Tucker! that's it!" :) |
Naming my puppy Cali after California where I was raised. Maybe if I move back to California I'll name my next dog Austin after where I am now. |
3 days before we got our yorkie, my 4 year old daughter watched the Disney movie Cinderella. I was so excited to go and pick up my new puppy, and had allready picked the name I wanted, ( Ivy). My daughter actually cried to name her Cinderella, so we decided it would make her feel more included to go ahead with Cinderella, but with a compromise to call her Cindy. But the funny thing is....Everybody calls her Cindylou, lol. And she really kinda looks like Cindylou Who, from whoville, (the grinch movie). |
My parent's yorkie is Hercules (since we all know yorkies are a big dog trapped in a little dog body), so I wanted to name our dog Samson (a Biblical character known for his strength). My husband didn't like that one. So the first night we had our baby, we sat in the backyard while he was running around and went through the alphabet and said the first name that came to our mind for each letter. We got to C, I said Cody. We continued on until we got to K. I said, why don't we name him Kody with a K, since our last name starts with a K? And so Kody was named. I wonder if this is how we'll end up picking our first kid's name... :questione :lol tears |
His name I was given my yorkie by some friends. They had bought him for their daughter, but she is allergic to him. They had already named him Tucker and I agreed that it was the perfect name for such a cute little thing! We have an extended family of dogs that includes a Jack Russel named Timber and a chocolate lab named Tyson, so Tucker seemed to fit the "family" names as well. :) |
What great stories! I've enjoyed reading them all. :) Ginger just seemed to fit, but I usually end up calling her peanut head...don't have any idea why :D |
I was between Coco Chanel and Lola Anne, and I waited till I met her to decide. When I met her, I called out both names and when I said Coco Chanel she liked me with her itty bitty little tongue and I know that was it. Plus Coco Chanel one of my favorite designers. |
I always name my animals by what rolls off the tongue. I kept singing Copacabana and she seemed like a Lola to me. Since all my animals have middle names I thought Larue sounded good with Lola. By the way, I now know that Tori Spelling's pugs anme is Mimi Larue. I did not know this when I named Lola. She became my showgirl. I liked the name Zoe to but my bf did'nt. |
I wanted a "tough" sounding name so I decided on Reuger, which is the name of a gun (Ruger). I told my husband that when I call Reuger that people are going to be expecting a rotweiler to appear and that just because he is so small doesn't mean that he can't sound tough!! Well, I waited and waited before I registered him because I was looking for just the right "legal" name. His full name is Diana's Nine MM Reuger!! MY husband just loves it because he is an avid hunter himself. The name really fits him too.:animal36 |

Sorry I posted twice and make that 3 now...Sorry... |
I chose a meaning to a CHinese character.... then doubled it.... Mae means beautiful MeeMee means little sister Lung means dragon Bao means precious Ging means gold BeeBee means baby and... well..... TingTing actually is my new puppy and I ran out of rhymes! LOL So I named her TingTing cause it sounded cute! |
K.C. is named after my two daughters. K. is for Kayla and C. is for Chandra. Lacy full name - Lace, Ribbons, and Bows - because I wanted something really girly. Allie and Kelsey - no reason - just that is what stuck! |
The day I picked out my baby, she smelled like that fresh April air, when spring is just starting, even though it was mid march. And I added Love to that.. well, because I just felt her love when I held her. Corny but I love the 3 syllabal names for the girls (AprilLove and Bitsy-Roo, my Maltese) Addicted to my canine babies MaryKay |
We were trying to think of something to name Chachi and the Happy Days Reunion show was on and there was a character named Chachi. My husband and I like the name so we named him Chachi. For Jewels my 5 yr old daughter named her. My breeder had a male dog named Jules and Alexa Rae must have really like that name so she was insistant we name her Jewels. We changed the spelling to a girls name obviously. |
We named our little 5 month old Yorkie Titus Jordan. "Titus" which is the last name of the breeder we bought him from. And, "Jordan" which is his mothers name. Titus is a tough name for such a little dog! Titus' mom |
Nada My little guy got his name from my husband actually. I have been looking and reading and talking to breeders for over a year. As I learned more and more, I kept telling my husband what I had found out or read, etc. His only response for a year was "We are not getting that little thing, it's "Not a Dog!" When I finally got to see my little guy I looked at him and laughed and said I know exactly what I am going to call you - NADA! I had heard my husband say "Not a Dog" for so long, the first part of it just kind of stuck! I changed the T to a D to make it different. People ask me all the time how I came up with the name and when I tell them they just laugh and laugh. Note: our so called "Not a Dog" gets more attention from my husband than our children ever did! LOL |
