Both my girls are eligible to be registered with the AKC, but I never bothered. I never intended to breed my girls, so, other than that..what are the papers good for?? Its been my past experience that those papers are put away and never seen again until I accidently come across them years laters, where I then end up throwing them away... |
Just wondering what exactly is CKC? Up here it's Canadian Kennel Club and therefore in the same standing as AKC would be for you guys. Is it something different in the US? |
Princess and Mandy are both registered AKC. We saved Poncho, so no papaers for him. I only registered Princess and Mandy so I could get their certified pedigree family history. If I was going to breed, it would make a difference. But as long as my furbabies are healthy, that's all I really care about.:2hearts2: |

I agree with vainchick5! when I bought Tilly I didn't expect or even think about akc or abc for that matter! I wanted a yorkie I love yorkies :D so tilly came with no papers! then I had the urge to get another baby and same feeling! I didn't ask about him being registered or if he was? and I had a certain amount of money that I was willing to pay to have another yorkie! I wanted a new baby, and I didn't care if sami was akc I was willing to pay for him that was within reason! If you are into showing, yes you should be concerned because it is required. but the way I see it akc is nothing more than an authenticity cerificate as if you were buying designer luggage! sami is akc but it didn't make his ears stand up :D I Love my Babies :2hearts2: |
When I was looking for Olivia, I only would look at AKC. Now that I have her, I could care less what she is. I do plan to get Olivia a sister in the future and unless I decide to get a biewer, I will probably only look for AKC again. Is it indicative of quality? Not necessarily, but for me, it's important. |
I am, for sure. AKC or imports who qualify for AKC. Angie |
no snob here I have both AKC and CKC can't tell any difference and yes I breed and I reg. all with CKC because most people don't care about the papers. Only breeders and people showing seem to reallllly get into registeries. |

nope, didn't care I looked and looked and when I finally found Bailey his mom was registered and his dad wasn't at that point it was the last thing on my mind. |
AKC... CKC... ABC... It doesn't matter to me. I looked & looked & finally found my puppy (I'll pick her up tomorrow). I just wanted a healthy puppy. Other than her health, second was her personality. I just knew that I'd know her when I saw her. |
i didnt care at all when i was looking for my baby...to be honest with you i think AKC is the root of alot of the puppy mills and ppl selling and breading dogs for money only....they know if they are AKC they get more money for them....but imo i didnt care if Bo had papers or not...he is CKC but i have never even sent them and and i doubt i will....i think it is different for everyone so really no one is in the wrong here it is just what you prefer....as long as my baby is healthy thats all i care about |
All my girls are registered . All my puppies are registered no matter if they are pet quality or breeding/show prospects . |
