I would say I'm not a snob. If I weren;'t goiing to breed, I would not have registered mine. But I have a sister that is a registry snob. She is always flaunting that a horse or a dog or whatever, is registered. I think she even registerewd her kids. LOL To me it does not matter, because any dog can be registered if the parents were registered, whether they are breed standard or not, So to me, it really means nothing |
Snob? .... no. AKC registered? ... yes. Very impressive pedigree? ... yes, lots of Champions. Our greatest concern was a healthy pet and we had always found that this type pup always turned out to be the healthiest ... not that non-registered ones aren't ... this was just our experience. We would love Toto no less had we found her in a garbage can ... we were just blessed to be able to find exactly what we were looking for! ;) |
Before I got my yorkies I thought I was, I was looking for AKC only and wouldnt buy CKC or with out papers. Well I've had them both for about 2yrs now and havent registered them, I realized the papers dont really matter to me one bit. Im not going to breed or show them so I'll never register them. |
My baby is akc but I really don't care much what she is as long as I have her. I know it means alot to some people where they are registered, but not me. Anyway the only diffrence with akc and ckc is that akc has been around longer so it's more well known. |
Snob? ....Not me. I have AKC and ACA yorkies. Most people I sell my pups to are looking for pets only. If you were going to show your dog I can understand registering with AKC... but other than that.... Just having a dog registered AKC does not depict the quality of the dog.:) |
I don't think AKC or any registration means that much, lots of poor examples of the breed are registered. Wanting a good pedigree might make me a snob, but I enjoy having a beautiful Yorkie, even if she is just a pet. |
I think unless you're breeding or going to show your yorkie, who cares! Coco is ACA registered and when I compare her to some AKC yorkies I've seen, she is way more standard than they are. I have seen dogs that look like Silky's being registered as yorkies in AKC, so it's not really accurate. Coco is ACA but has perky ears that have stood since the beginning and has rich colors, with no silver, and has a straight back, ect. So if we were comparing anything, it should be how close to standard your yorkie is, rather than who you are registered with, because now they want to register designer dogs (mutts). To me AKC means nothing. |
I didn't even register Cali I can't remember what she could have been registered as but it wasn't AKC. All of my other dogs were AKC just because that's what the breeder had. I could care less I know from now on I will be very careful about health and if that means AKC or not I don't care. |
I have always registered my dogs (always AKC) .... But I got my little Yorkie, who can be registered, but I didn't even fill out the paperwork and send it in. All I have ever done with any of my dog's registration papers is put them in a drawer and never look at them again. My Yorkie is a pet - neutered and will never be shown. I really was no reason to register him. I know he could be, and I know he's a purebred, but why waste the money. I guess I'm the "opposite of a snob." I could care less -- and I am positive that no one else cares either. Good luck! Carol Jean |

All of my pets are AKC. Don't consider myself a snob. Never really thought about it. For some reason AKC gives me a piece of mind. |

All of our traditionals are AKC registered with Champion lines. I really don't think we are registry snobs though. We are planning on breeding so we wanted everyone to be the same registery. If I was to have a pet only and as long as I could see the parents...I wouldn't care in the least. I have seen some ummm how do I say it...attractively challanged AKC yorkies that are not in breed standard at all and I have seen Yorkies that are not even papered at all that are BEAUTIFUL! |
